Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kenyé Pierce of Fort Worth

Kenyé Pierce shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Kenyé, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are a mix of calm intention and energized focus. I usually start with a quick meditation to set the tone—just 10 minutes to get centered before the day takes off. After that, it’s straight to breakfast (because no one should face a to-do list on an empty stomach). While sipping lemon water in my favorite Stanley, I check emails and reply to anything urgent. Then it’s time to get hands-on: prepping orders for shipping, printing labels, and making sure every package is wrapped and ready to bring some joy. It’s a little bit zen, a little bit go-time—and it works for me!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kenyé — the founder, creative director, and all-around scent enthusiast behind Mood Lux. I started Mood Lux out of a deep love for aromatherapy and a lifelong obsession with all things charming, cozy, and beautifully designed. By day, I’m a freelance Senior Graphic Designer, and by night (or really anytime inspiration strikes), I’m blending fragrances and dreaming up mood-lifting moments in a spray bottle.

Mood Lux was born from the idea that your space should feel as good as it looks — and scent plays a huge part in that. I’ve found that aromatherapy helps me stay inspired, focused, and grounded whether I’m creating for clients or simply recharging. My goal is to share that same spark with others, infusing joy, calm, and intention into the everyday.

Right now, I’m working on the upcoming Fall and Holiday collections — think warm, gift-worthy scents and cozy vibes galore — and gearing up for a busy (and festive!) market season. Stay tuned — there’s lots of magic in the works!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I’d say my parents taught me the most about work. Growing up, they instilled in me the belief that hard work eventually pays off—and they were right. They led by example, showing me the value of doing the hard things first, always staying professional, and never taking anything for granted. That mindset has stuck with me through every chapter of my career and continues to shape how I show up each day.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Oh my—the ‘80s and ‘90s. I grew up in that era, and there’s something about it I quietly miss all the time. Life wasn’t so “technical” back then. There was no social media, no constant notifications—just people outside, riding bikes, hanging out on porches, and really living in the moment. It felt simpler, more connected in a real way. Sometimes I find myself craving that kind of unplugged joy that no one really talks about anymore.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Good question! If you ask anyone who knows me, they’ll probably say it’s about 50/50—LOL! The public version of me is definitely real, but it’s the more polished, social side I share when I feel comfortable. I’m a true introvert at heart, so depending on the setting, you’ll either get full-on energy or quiet observer mode. It really just depends on the vibe and the people around me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’d say I’m definitely doing what I was born to do. I’m a freelance Senior Graphic Designer, and I genuinely love creating and being an entrepreneur. That creative spark and business mindset have been with me since I was a kid—whether it was setting up lemonade stands at family yard sales or starting a craft club with the neighborhood kids. I’ve always found joy in turning ideas into something real. So now, blending design with entrepreneurship feels like a natural extension of who I’ve always been.
