Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kesha Chante of Far North Dallas Area

Kesha Chante shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Kesha, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of building myself along with my brand. To some people it might not seem that deep, but to me, I can’t say that my goal is to change the world but I do want to be a part of a change in peoples lives.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by Kesha, but some people remember me as “the pescatarian girl” .. however my business name is “Yo Fav Pescatarian” . I actually started my brand on accident about 3 years ago. I have been health conscious for nearly 10 years now, but I have been pescatarian since 2018. I started my brand simply by just posting my food. So many people were always curious on the things we eat as pescatarians so I just did it to show and it went from there. I recently just started offering meal preps and more which is something that my audience has asked for—for a while now! All of this can be found on YoFavPescatarian.com or YoFavPescatarian on all other socials.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that continuously procrastinates on things due to fear. Some people may look at certain accomplishments I’ve made and it may seem easy, but I can guarantee you I probably procrastinated before I started. Fear can delay your dreams or goals!

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Im currently living in it. There are some things I deal with daily, but the people who love and support me are those who keep me going. Every negative thought or painful moment— I use for growth. I do feel as if everything happens for a reason and that helps give me comfort as well. Any time I am vocal about any challenges I face, I have people who let me know how much I have helped them in some sort of way and I have always felt that was a part of my purpose.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to helping our community become healthier. We don’t have to be perfect, but any change is a step towards having a better quality of life. This journey I am on does not have an end date.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
For the first time of my life I actually feel as if I am doing what I was born to do. Helping people has always been a passion of mine in some sort of way, but starting this brand and helping people the way I have been these last few years has felt like this has been my purpose all along.
