Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with LeAndria Black of Fort Worth, TX

LeAndria Black shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi LeAndria, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start my day as early as 3 a.m. by not picking up my phone but instead reading a proverb of the day from the Bible and reading a devotional of the day. This helps me set the tone of the day! Helps me to see the good in all things, remain optimistic, and continuing to fill myself so that I can fill others up!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is LeAndria but I go by LA. I own my own personal training business and I am a co-owner of a private training facility in Fort Worth, Tx. I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with my bachelor’s in Exercise Science. I am a NASM-CPT, NASM Women’s Fitness Specialist, and a Girl’s Gone Strong Pre and Postnatal Certified Personal Trainer. All throughout college I trained my family and friends and soon after it became a passion of mines. I knew early on in my career I wanted to own my own business and my own gym. During the pandemic I was furloughed from my full-time personal training job. With a lot of prayer and a big leap of faith; I started my personal training business in my garage and it was THE best decision that I have ever made! The purpose of B FIT with LA is to instill confidence in women IN and OUT of the gym! Whether we are training together, on a consult call, or simply seeing one of my social media post; my goal is that women of all ages and body types gain confidence in themselves!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Being raised by a single mother has definitely shaped who I am as a person and how I work today! Growing up I watched my mom provide for my brother and I with a smile on her face. My mom put me through private school, college, and has taught me the importance of hard work ethic. I will forever be grateful for my mom and the support she has given me! My mom has taught me everything about how to run a business and the importance of dedication to this journey we call life.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to never forget who you are. Throughout my life I have gone through some up’s and down’s and in the process who I am hit the back burner to fit into society or someone else’s vision of who they think I am. But I will never forget who I am and where I come from!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies the fitness industry tells itself is there is a quick fix for everything without any consequences. Regardless if you are working on your health and fitness goals there will always be something out there that will help you get to the “results” faster, but what they don’t tell you is that those “results” are never sustainable.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
There is something we constantly do to ourselves and that is worry and or worry about what other people think. In 7-10 years what people think about you will not matter as long as you keep being true to yourself! People will always have opinions on something you do or don’t do and It is not your job to worry about those opinions.
