Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Lexus Risean of Dallas Texas

Lexus Risean shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Lexus , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I have recently just moved into a New house and I am finding joy in decorating and cooking. Making a house a home for my children and animals.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey everyone I am Lexus Risean. I am a poet and singer/songwriter. I would describe myself as a love and biblical writer. While my songs are love songs my poems aim more toward my religion side. Seeking god, prayers, and learning who I am with Christ. I honestly feel more myself in my poetry. You can find my music on all platforms and my poetry on www. Allpoetry.com. Right now I am working on my gospel album and I’m excited about dedicating this music to God.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The death of a close cousin who was more like a sibling. I was so hurt but my relationship with god grew. I needed understanding and I found it in reading my Bible and prayer. That was the first moment then I went on to lose an actual sibling. My Big brother and then my nephew. Life for me became more intentional.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
The more I started writing poems the more my pain came out in my words. It was on accident most times, because I write from the heart and I don’t hold back my feelings. I’m known to be emotional. I know that everyone has a story and journey so I don’t feel ashamed to share mine. Being authentic in my poetry makes me a great writer and people resonate with my poem’s because of it.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
That’s easy! My bestfriend Kimyia Trimble. She is the kind of soul that is Rare. The kind of person you would consider a gem god gives. She is intentional on how she treats others. She is selfless, kind, fun, adventurous, motivational and someone you can go to during hard times without judgement. God did his big one with that one for sure.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
In short terms, I hope when someone ask about me. They will compare me to the proverbs 31 woman. Kind, gentle, hardworking and a woman who loved unconditionally. A true woman of God!
