We’re looking forward to introducing you to Malia Robbins. Check out our conversation below.
Malia , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I am a dynamic multi-hyphenate balancing content creation, leadership, and performance. My days blend managing insurance teams and social media, pitching brands as a micro influencer, and rehearsing or performing as a pro dancer. I stay grounded in faith, driven by purpose, and energized by engaging with people—whether it’s online, in business, or on the court.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Malia Marino Robbins — a professional dancer, content creator, and recruiting director who’s passionate about inspiring people to pursue what lights them up. I dance professionally for the Dallas Wings and built a brand rooted in confidence, creativity, and connection. I also lead and manage in the insurance and recruiting world, helping others build careers with purpose.
What makes my journey unique is that I’ve never boxed myself into one path. From performing in front of thousands to managing teams and creating relatable, impactful content, I’ve blended business, beauty, and entertainment into one powerful platform. Right now, I’m focused on growing my influence, collaborating with brands I love, and continuing to show others that you don’t have to choose between your passions — you can build a life that includes them all.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever really changed — because I’ve never let the world tell me who to be. I’ve always followed my own path, led by passion, creativity, and a deep love for connecting with others. Whether I was dancing, creating, or building something new, I’ve always stayed true to what lights me up. I’ve never been afraid to be different — if anything, I’ve always embraced it. My creativity has never been a phase — it’s who I am at my core.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. When my brother passed away, it felt like my world stopped. The pain was unbearable, and for a moment, I didn’t know how I’d keep going. But just days after his funeral, I auditioned for a dance team — not because I was ready, but because I knew I couldn’t survive in the city without a community to lift me up. That moment reminded me that even in heartbreak, purpose can still push you forward. I danced through the pain, and it became part of my healing.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is exactly who I am. I’ve never been one to fake it or water myself down. Whether I’m on stage, creating content, or leading a team, I show up as my full, authentic self. I believe in being real, being bold, and being rooted in purpose — on and off the screen.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I lived with passion, purpose, and heart. That I made others feel seen, inspired them to chase what they love, and never held back from being exactly who I was. I want to be remembered as someone who stayed true to herself, lifted others up, and left every space brighter — whether through a dance, a kind word, or the way I showed up every day.
