We recently had the chance to connect with Mikayla Bishop and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mikayla, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I believe since I am a content creator on Onlyfans, it is easy to give people who use the platform a stereotype. OF models are viewed in negative ways but people don’t understand we are human too. We have feelings too and for the most part a lot of OF models are down to earth! People hear what I do and they are either really supportive or super judgmental. It may seem like it is an easy job, however, it actually requires a lot of time and effort! I spend almost any time of the day content creating. Not only on Onlyfans but Tiktok and Twitch! I am a gamer girl at heart so I also have to balance my time between gaming and Twitch steaming and creating content and chatting on OF.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Mikayla Bishop aka Spicy Velma. I am 26 years old, and I am a content creator. My whole brand is entirely being 100% myself. No filters, no acting, just raw emotions and real content. My next goals I have is to take YouTube, and Twitch more seriously I’m a huge gamer and I love live streaming, so it is a package deal! I like to make people laugh and simply have fun. I make content like podcasts, challenges, vlogs, and trying new foods! It took me a lot of work to get to where I am now which consists of constant posting and interacting.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think miscommunication is a huge factor that divides people. Everyone has their own thoughts, opinions, and beliefs and it is okay for people to not align with that. However, how you handle that conversation is what ultimately matters. You have to be open minded to the thought that there are other possibilities. When miscommunication comes into play, it can alter not only the thought process but can lead to a negative reaction. A way to restore it is to simply let go. Let those walls down and with better communication and understanding, it makes the bond stronger.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Definitely the fear of being judged. It’s in our human nature to not want to be judged by those surrounding us. Especially since the internet, people can go to lengths and measures that can mentally harm you. The internet is unfiltered and of course, you’re hidden behind a screen. People can judge your appearance or your content, and it can be completely discouraging. I believe because I’ve had this fear, it’s set me back a lot. I second guess my posts and everything I make.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
100%. I think it’s hard to create a persona that I’m not simply because I feel it is a lot of work to do so. If I just give the real me off the rip, then I don’t have to really worry. You either like me, or you don’t! When I see creators, I like the fact that I can relate. I think having relatable factors draws audience in more because it’s real!! I like to see people who are unfiltered and don’t care what people say. They just speak their mind and post whatever they want.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What light inside you have you been dimming?
A lot of people tell me I’m talented, smart, beautiful inside and out. I think I’ve blinded myself from viewing myself this way. I believe if I started to believe it more, the light inside me would absolutely shine. I noticed my energy has a lot of impact on the people around me and that’s a very strange feeling to know sometimes (in a good way of course). People rely on me and come to me for comfort. I know the light inside me deserves to shine more but I always dim it unfortunately. I’ve been working on it much more and I can see the light slowly starting to show more day by day!
