We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nicholas Dillon. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Nicholas, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred. I rise around 4:45 a.m., beginning with about 15 minutes of meditation while reciting powerful affirmations that anchor me: I am the creator of my destiny. My energy shapes my reality. I am whole and complete in this very moment. I am connected to infinite possibilities. I follow this by thanking God for the grace of another day and for the well-being of my family.
Next, I dedicate up to an hour at the gym. While working out—often on the treadmill—I continue my mindfulness practice, centering my mind with a gospel playlist or an inspiring podcast. This routine sets my energy, focus, and spirit on a positive, unstoppable trajectory for the day ahead.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nicholas Dillon, known to many as The Believe Coach. I hold dual master’s degrees in Adult Education and Counseling, along with post‑graduate doctoral work in Behavioral Psychology. I am the Founder and CEO of The Believe Wellness Center, PLLC, a boutique consulting firm specializing in counseling, leadership development, professional training, and transformational speaking.
What makes my organization stand out is our holistic approach. Everything we do is rooted in helping clients uncover and align their core beliefs and values with the results they truly desire.
My journey began with a successful career as a corporate leader, but I felt called to follow my heart and expand my impact globally. Since then, I’ve become an International Speaker, been featured in publications such as The Business Journal, Inc. Magazine, Huffington Post, and Black Enterprise, and appeared on national television as a subject matter expert. I’m also a Bestselling Author and proud recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my brand through innovative marketing strategies across today’s multimedia landscape. I’m actively promoting my Mindset Breakthrough Coaching Program, my Monthly Accountability Group Coaching Program, and developing both a Masterclass and VIP Day designed to help individuals take a deep dive, shift their mindset, and step into the highest expression of themselves.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I honestly didn’t believe I would live to see 18. I carried the names and labels placed on me through years of childhood bullying, and for a long time my self‑worth was painfully low—I simply didn’t believe in myself.
But my life has been a profoundly transformational journey, proof of what happens when you commit to the inner work—healing, confronting, and releasing those self‑defeating beliefs that no longer serve you. While I am still evolving, the accomplishments I’ve achieved stand as a powerful testament to how radically life can shift when your beliefs change from the inside out.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I will never forget the time, around age 16, when I almost gave up. I felt as low as a person could feel—unheard, unseen, unloved, unaccepted, and as though I no longer mattered. In that dark season, I truly believed my family and the world would be better off without me, and I planned my suicide attempt.
What kept me tethered was an unlikely lifeline: my journal. On those pages, I felt no judgment. It was the one place I could hear my own voice clearly. To this day, I consider journaling a powerful tool—one I actively use in my practice—because it creates a safe space for reflection, healing, and self-expression.
That attempt did not go through, and for more than 30 years now, I’ve been on a journey rising out of that pit—one I pray never to experience again. My story stands as living proof that even in our lowest moments, there is a path forward.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I believe many smart people get it wrong by buying into the illusion of overnight success—especially in entrepreneurship. Social media often makes it look effortless, but what we see online is usually the highlight reel, the end result of years of sacrifice, not the grind behind the scenes. In fact, much of what’s portrayed isn’t even real.
Professionally, I see another misconception: the belief that advanced degrees or certifications alone will catapult someone to the level they desire. While education absolutely opens doors, the true competitive edge—the unspoken secret—is personal development. Working on yourself from the inside out, especially building emotional intelligence, is where many people stumble or avoid doing the deeper work. Yet that inner work is what creates lasting influence and sustainable success.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is that I was kind, generous, God‑fearing, grateful, and courageous. Through the work I do each day, my deepest desire is to change lives—one person at a time.
If someone has worked with me, crossed paths with me, or simply shared space with me, I want them to be able to tell their own story of how their life was better because of that experience. I never want my work or relationships to feel empty or insignificant.
Every day, I strive to show up with compassion, empathy, and grace—so that my impact is both powerful and deeply meaningful.
