Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Nyasia White of Fort Worth

We recently had the chance to connect with Nyasia White and have shared our conversation below.

Nyasia, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Earlier this year, I landed my first seasonal job as a picture day photographer—a dream I’d been holding onto for years, but one I always approached with trepidation. My hesitation stemmed from a high school photography class where our teacher highlighted the potential downsides of the profession, warning us about dissatisfied customers and the inevitability of encountering people who wouldn’t appreciate our work. This discouraged me, leading me to believe that freelance photography, where I could do my own thing without worrying about ‘pleasing clients,’ was the only path for me. However, my growing love for portrait photography forced me to recognize that pleasing everyone is an impossible task. As someone once wisely told me, ‘Remember that not everyone will love everything you do, and that’s okay! Focus on your own growth and satisfaction, and the right customers will come along.’ With those kind words in mind, I dedicated time to personal growth, and once my confidence grew, I finally applied for the job. Since then, it’s been an incredible boost to my confidence and a fantastic opportunity to hone my craft.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Nyasia White and I love photography One of my greatest feelings in life is capturing moments and telling stories through my lens. When I’m not out there chasing the perfect shot, I’m also wrangling smiles and snapping adorable pics as a seasonal preschool picture day photographer. It’s a wild mix of creative freedom and organized chaos, but I love every minute of it!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Graduating basic training and being in the military instilled in me a sense of power that came from discipline, teamwork, and overcoming challenges I never thought possible. That feeling of empowerment translates directly into my photography; it’s about capturing strength, resilience, and the raw beauty in every subject. As I’m proudly ending my military contract September 2025, I’m excited to channel that same drive and focus into creating images that tell powerful stories and leave a lasting impact.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
My dear young beautiful Ny, I know things might seem tough right now, but trust me, you’re way stronger than you think. You’ve got this incredible ability to see things differently, to come up with ideas that no one else does. Don’t dim that light by comparing yourself to others. Your uniqueness is your superpower, the thing that sets you apart. Embrace it, nurture it, and use it to build something amazing—your brand, your legacy. The world needs what only you can bring to the table, so go out there and show them what you’ve got!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, and with that being said, I have to be honest: Okay, so I might not always be the most polished or professional person you’ll meet, and I know I sometimes stumble over the details. But what I lack in perfect professionalism, I more than make up for in genuine sincerity. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I think people can sense that. I’ve always been good at connecting with others, understanding where they’re coming from, and making them feel comfortable. For me, it’s about building real relationships and being someone people can trust and count on, even if I’m not always the most buttoned-up person in the room.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I would say the time I finally got a job that paid really well.
So, I landed this job, right? The kind that made everyone’s eyes pop when I told them the salary. And yeah, at first, it was pretty cool seeing those big numbers hit my bank account. But here’s the thing: all that money couldn’t buy me the one thing I really craved – time. Time to spend with the people I loved, time to actually enjoy life. I was so caught up in doing what I thought looked good on paper, what I thought would impress everyone else, that I completely lost sight of what truly mattered to me. Deep down, I wasn’t feeding my soul; I wasn’t pursuing my real passion. So, I made a choice, a scary one. I walked away from the money, from the prestige, and I took a leap of faith into a job that paid way less but set my heart on fire. And honestly? It’s been the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made.
