Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Matta.
Andrea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello! It is such an honor to be able to share my story. I live in Dallas, TX and am currently an Executive Assistant/Office Manager but I am a fitness, fashion, music, travel lover by heart!
For the longest time, I didn’t know who I was, what I wanted to be and just kind of felt like I didn’t have much of a purpose I was just so used to living the normal everyday; get up, drive to work in traffic, work 8 hours anxiously waiting at the the clock for 5 pm, drive back home in traffic, attempt to work out, make dinner, get ready for bed and then do it all over again.
So, I decided to do something about it! I took my love for fashion, fitness, and everything that makes me happy and loaded it all into my mind to change my mindset and to love life again. I changed my schedule to where I have time to see people I love, do what I love and not just do the same thing every day. I enjoy my job more because I have a better mindset and now the days go by faster than before. I take different ways home so it is never the same. I use my love for fitness to help me from the inside out. I work out every morning at 5 am, 5 AM Y’ALL yes you read that right! Discipline equals freedom. Now, that I have a balance I make the days great, you can tell, I feel like a different person!
Mental health is a real thing, I have been in plenty of bad places of my life but you are in control of your mind and your happiness. When you take your life and happiness back, more doors open up for you and you see a better light in life that will change you!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I was a child, my parents split up when I was in 2nd grade, it was hard on me. I went through a lot during that time and discovered that I did have severe anxiety, mental disorder and I would even make myself sick. I got help through therapy, reading and medicine occasionally and thankfully, I was able to over come it eventually once the divorce was over and I could see that just because my parents aren’t together doesn’t mean that they don’t love me.
Fast forward to now, I recently went through a rough patch in my life where it made me realize what am I doing, with life, my relationship that I have been in for over 7 years that was going nowhere, my job, etc. I then had another mental breakdown and my anxiety was full force. I didn’t know what to do, how to react, and I thought I couldn’t live my life either like this or at all. That is when I knew I needed help. I did lots of googling, found things that helped me by reading, yoga, meditation and best of all working out. Working out was my saving grace.
It all starts from the inside out, in the gym, I was able to focus, this was the best thing that helped me mentally and through that, I could see a change in how I thought about things. I workout because I am my own worst enemy, I feed off that challenge to better myself in every way possible and that is what I love. I have built a strong core to where I push myself not only in the gym but in life, I see the positive and know that having a negative mindset won’t make me lift these weights, LOL!
As I read a book, your mind is like a garden, it is something you have to take care of. If you don’t you will just grow weeds and bad stuff. If you water, nurture and take care of it, it will grow into a beautiful garden of flowers.
SO, GO GROW A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN AND BE TRUE TO YOURSELF! <3
Please tell us about your business.
I am an upcoming blogger, I do love fashion, clothes, shoes, etc but I am more in love with fitness and wellness. That is what I am trying to rebrand as through “@FitByAndreaM”.
I want to influence people that it is important to take care of your body because it is a temple and it is the only place that you have to live. I want to share them the importance of fitness and different way to live a healthy, happy and balanced lifestyle. I want to be willing to share different brands that are natural, local, and will give you all the benefits to feel good from the inside out.
What sets me apart is that I want to make sure that no matter what I stay true. I don’t want to change for someone else, I don’t want others to change for me. I want to find that balance. That is what I think it so important because balance is much needed for mental health, physical health and everyday lifestyle.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Make sure you are doing it all for the right reasons. This is so important because it will all just come naturally and not feel forced or like a career.
Be honest about everything you talk about and see everything from other people perspective as well!
And most importantly, don’t give up!
