Today we’d like to introduce you to Anya Camper-Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Anya. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
How did I get started?! Honestly, it was on a whim! I was working in corporate world and honestly just wanting a change. I had been watching a couple of other lash artists that are friends of mine do so well and actually enjoy what they were doing. So I reached out to my friend to inquire about training and decided, WHY NOT?
“Try it out, Anya! If it doesn’t turn out like you’d hoped, at least you gave it a try!”
So, I did just that. I made the decision June 2017 to train with my friend/Lash Boss Octavia Howard CEO of Wink Out Loud.
I fell in love! And I’ve been going ever since! One of THE best decisions I’ve ever made!
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s definitely had its ups and downs!! But that’s life in general! Many more ups than downs though. It’s not easy. It’s tedious and hard on the body. But I’ve learned how to lessen the strain as well as try to get massages regularly. Lashing takes lots and lots of constant practice. Trial and error. Until you find your mojo, or what works best for you. Even now, I’m still learning. I try to stay informed and current with what’s new.
I’ve met and formed some pretty dope/amazing friendships with my clients! They are literally THE BEST. 💜
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Lash Artist and part owner of EyeAmRoyalty located in Little Elm, TX. I plan to add to the services I currently offer my awesome clients this year, and I’m super excited about that!
I am most proud of my growth this past year! I strive to make sure that each of my clients are satisfied and feel great about their extensions each and every time. I think that is so very important. When you wake up from your lash naps, I want to ensure that you feel even more beautiful and confident when you walk out!
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
As far as finding a mentor. Definitely, do your research. Follow the artist, their work & pay attention to their reviews.
