Life and Work with Bere Garnica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bere Garnica.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bere. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since I was a kid, I found the excitement behind written words, both reading, and writing.

When I was in elementary school, I used to write short stories for both school contests and just for fun, but it wasn’t until I entered high school that I discover what writing for a blog was.

I have been writing in different blogs for eight years now, but it’s been two years since I decided to make my project something serious and give it a business though.

These almost two years of formally blogging have given me more than I could ever think of; I’ve met wonderful and inspiring people who have not only been role models to me, some of them have become dear friends; I have had the opportunity to collaborate with brands I love and meet new ones but what I’m most thankful for is the connection I’ve made with people, reading people’s DM’s on my Instagram can just make my day go from dark to bright pink in a few seconds. It’s knowing people enjoy what you do and find useful the things you write about what gives me the strength and confidence to keep doing this.

Even though I have a normal job, where I have to deal with a lot of people, blogging brings peace to myself. It helps me drain my mind and soul from all the negativity and weariness that working in Customer Service can bring you.

My blog is that little corner in the world when I can just be me and set me free by writing about topics that I’m passionate about which have nothing to do with my job but have to do everything with who I am as a human.
I know my journey isn’t “blogging goals”, but for me, it’s a huge achievement. Being a shy person and opening a blog has been a constant challenge in my life, it’s not easy to put yourself out there but it’s definitely worth it after the amazing experiences I have been able to live so far.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always thought being a blogger was a piece of cake, at least that’s how big bloggers make it seem. But I have learned that there’s a lot more work than I ever thought there would be.

My journey hasn’t been easy or straight to fame in no time, on the contrary; I have been working a lot to get to where I am right now.

One of the biggest challenges I have faced this time includes having what we call “blogging block”, of course, there are times you just don’t know what to write about but there is a simple way to combat it; I always carry a notebook with myself and write things that inspire me or make me want to learn more about; that way I’m always brainstorming no matter where I am: the subway, the office, on the road, on a bus or just standing in a line to get a coffee. Inspiration can be found anywhere, you just gotta see the worked with open eyes and mind.
Another challenge for me has to do with the fact I am camera shy; I’m more the kind of person who enjoys taking the photo, but little by little I, have learned to put myself in front of the lens… obviously, photos won’t be Instagram-worthy on the first shot, but don’t get disappointed, not even models can do it perfectly in their first try. Letting yourself be comfortable and confident in front of the camera takes time and practice and if there’s one thing I can tell you is don’t be afraid and just do it; don’t care about what other people think. Just love yourself, be confident and enjoy the shooting. People can distinguish between a forced pose and a one that seems natural and comfortable.

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out, there always be someone who feels identified with you, with what you do, and what you think.

Please tell us about your business.
I have a major in Communications and Digital Media but have been working in a lot of different industries for more than six years. So far, my favorite industry has been culture because I got to work in a worldwide organization that not only promotes the English language, they promote diversity, art, educations, socializing and understanding everyone as humans, no matter where we are from or what language we speak.

As crazy as it sounds, I have never worked formally on the beauty industry, which is a shame because I love it, but I think that is one thing that sets me apart as a blogger, I talk about it merely from my point of view and experience.

As a blogger and content creator, I offer a lot of different services to my clients that go from a blog and Instagram posts, to voice recordings and translations focused on Hispanic audiences.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Don’t be afraid to be yourself and go after your dreams. It’s your life and you deserve to do what makes you the happiest woman on earth despite what people say.

Work hard, get prepared and never lose faith in yourself. You’ll rock anything you propose.
