Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie Garza.
Gracie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Gracie Garza. As far back as I can remember, my mother was always a caregiver. She was always taking care of someone. Years later, she took care of one grandmother who struggled with stomach cancer and then my other grandmother which had dementia. I am very proud to have such an amazing mother and always thought if I could be at least half the women she is I would be successful. As the years passed by, my passion for the medical field really grew. I was then diagnosed with PCOS and infertility. This was my push into the medical field. In 2014, we were blessed with a miracle baby boy. The months to come would change my life in so many ways. I felt I could do anything I set my mind on. In 2015, we first opened our doors to Medical Professional Institute, LLC. I am the Owner and Director at MPI. In 2017, we opened our second location. We are a healthcare school that offers Medical Assistant, Medical Secretary, Medical Assistant Online, Phlebotomy Seminar, and EKG Seminar.
The most rewarding thing about having a healthcare school is witnessing so many lives change. Our schools are small but our team comes with years of experience. We believe God put us exactly where we are supposed to be.
I sit here and smile as I type this because I share my testimony all the time with our students. I’m going to share with you as well and you will understand how I got to where I am today. In 2014, I was blessed with a miracle baby. After fourteen years of struggling with infertility and TEN miscarriages, I finally received my rainbow of hope. This changed my life. I felt there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do that I set my mind on! Who would’ve thought with a newborn, I would leave my position of several years to start my own business. Having my own rainbow I knew God would provide.
Here we are in 2019, we hit our four years in business this September! God is good! We know what makes us different from other schools. We stand by no student left behind.
Has it been a smooth road?
The first year was definitely not a smooth road. We knew we had to stand in FAITH and continue looking up. God didn’t bring us this far to leave us. With an amazing team and family support we knew what we needed to do. It was all lessons that needed to be learned. We always tell our students -There will always be bumps along the way in anything that you want to do. We all have to continue to Keep looking up! Believe in yourself even when you feel that no one believes in you. You CAN do it!!!! You have to go through the TEST to share your Testimony!!!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Medical Professional Institute, LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are very proud to hold a great completion rate! We offer job assistance and at any time will help our graduates. It can be something as simple as needing copies of resume, updating resume, interview tips, job leads and so much more! We stand by NO STUDENT LEFT BEHIND.
We are a training school to help those wanting to start a new career in healthcare. I am the Director. My door stays open because I want our students to know that they are welcome in my office anytime. Even as adults, we all need someone to talk to. Sometimes, our students are going through a storm and they will come to my office. Every student that has came through MPI is now part of our MPI Family.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Women need to be more supportive of each other. I feel that doubting ourselves is the biggest barrier today to female leadership. We will overthink everything and let doubt take over. We need to erase CAN’T from our vocabulary. We need to encourage each other as women and know we CAN and we ARE leaders. I’m constantly asked how did I do it. I didn’t do anything. I give God all the glory and thank him for blessing us with an amazing team. A team of strong female leaders that share their own testimony to help others.
