Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyce Storer.
Joyce, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am married to Phil for over 35 years and have three children, Ryan, Cole, and Devin. I also have two adorable grandchildren, Sutton and Sloane. I was a figure skater as a child. In my young adult life, I was a personal trainer and taught group fitness for 30 years. When my youngest was leaving for college, I decided that it would be really fun to start a new career. I had a friend that I admired and she was a Realtor. I thought it would be a good fit for me. I am in my ninth year, and it has been a very rewarding career. It is much harder than I thought it was, but it has made me grow as a person. I started my career when I was 46 years old, and never dreamed I would be successful! I want to encourage women of any age, to try something new. Currently, I am with Coldwell Banker and the Lisa Birdsong Group. I work with both buyers and sellers in the Dallas area.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a realtor is like riding a roller coaster. It has its highs and lows for sure. Either I give my client’s good news or sometimes, the news they don’t want to hear. Buying or selling your home is a very stressful undertaking. It’s up to me to help people with the process.

Real Estate! I list homes and I help with the purchase of homes. I specialize in the Plano, Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Prosper and North Dallas areas. I am proud to be on a great team that provides fantastic marketing, both a listing coordinator, and closing coordinator, and the best technology out there!
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Be brave! It might take a few bumps in the road to make it, but keep pushing for the prize. If I can start a new career and age 46, without a college degree, and no real computer skills, you can too!
