Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I own Decor By Glam, all in one decorative company. I am a creator so my mind is never limited to one thing. That’s my way of saying, “name it and there’s a great chance I can make it.” Lol, I’ve always been creative! I started at 17 years old, decorating window displays for a toy store at the World Trade Center of Dallas… that’s where my love of decorating began. I thought, if I could convince buyers to shop within a few seconds of a glance, maybe I could do this on a broader scale. I started with family parties, then word of mouth led to more and more. Before long, I was decorating everyone’s parties, making centerpieces, then bedrooms, then homes, then weddings. Now, I do absolutely everything. I’m Martha Stewart’s baby. Lol
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Are you joking, right? Lol. Whenever something can go wrong, it usually does! I’ve encountered everything from broken vases on a wedding day to my perfectionist imperfections getting in my head on the day of a “party treat” delivery. It’s always a roller coaster but knowing who you are and what you truly want to represent always prevails.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a designer and a decorator so my mind is always going. Outside of my wall letters, and home/event decor, I absolutely love flowers! I’ve been working with several salon & boutique owners on floral and grass walls. Nothing gives a space a POP quite like a beautiful accented wall…. but GLAM of course. My uniqueness comes from my things being 100% handmade! I don’t believe in buying online and slapping your label on a product! My heart and soul goes into every single thing I do.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood creative memory was cutting my mom’s skirt up to make a scarf. LOL! It wasn’t very funny then but it’s a hoot now! It definitely explains a lot about my creativity.
