Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Hill.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved crafts, or more so had the patience for them. So about a year and half ago my mom bought me a Cricut. I know a lot of people are familiar with them. I started out making vinyl decals, then shortly after started making vinyl t-shirts. For almost a year that’s all I did was make vinyl t-shirts. I enjoyed them so much, that I wanted to do more. After a ton of research, about mid last year I took a huge leap and invested in a DTG (Direct to Garment) Printer. This broadened up my spectrum of what I could do immensely. DTG is a little different from screen-printing. I can do full color shirts with no hassle, and also I don’t need huge orders to be able to profit. I can print on t-shirts, on bags, on denim, pillow cases, etc. The list goes on. Working with my customers to create their vision on a product is my passion. Making their birthday parties, bachelorette parties, vacations, boutiques a little bit more personal is the best feeling! At this point I am working to grow and get myself out there. I do sell my own designs, as well as take custom orders with no minimum or maximum – every order is accepted by me. I am working with multiple boutique owners in wholesale products, and designing shirts that fit their style! My most recent project is my denim line – now that fall is coming up. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me and my business!
Has it been a smooth road?
Yes I have had struggles! A main one was living in the heart of Dallas while my equipment was two hours away stored when I had no space to use it. Then, when I finally set up a place for it I had no idea how to use all of my machines. I was so lost, so of course I got on Facebook for help. Everyone referred me to a man named Dave Wall. I flew him down from Illinois to train me (twice). It was a very bumpy road that sometimes seemed impossible, but I finally got the hang of all my equipment and could use it all blind folded! My advice is to never take your eyes off of the end success. You have to know everyone struggles, even when their business is succeeding – it still has bumps. I am so passionate about what I do, and also enjoy it so much that the struggles are so worth it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with HOH Co. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
T-Shirts are my main focus. I am definitely known for the T-Shirts. I really enjoy creating and designing. I am no graphic designer by any means – but usually what I have to offer (or come up with) is similar to what my customer is wanting. I am most proud that I am local to my customers – and when they contact my company they are in direct conversation with me. We discuss what they want, and sketch up a plan. It really is awesome seeing a group of customers wearing my shirts at a life event they have going on.
I would say what sets me apart is my willing – ness to personally work on what YOU as a customer want. Without emailing days back and forth (as you would with a big corporation) and also having a great turn around time. I devote all of my time to my business. It isn’t a side-gig or part-time, it is my life! That being said I am fully invested in my customers and meeting their wants.
Who have you been inspired by?
I have so many influencers in my life, it is hard to name one. Of course my mom has inspired me to be hard working, but no one in my family really had the entrepreneurial mind-set. I guess I kind of gained that on my own. I do follow a ton of Boss Babes on social media that influence me and radiate positivity having a business!
