Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Mitlyng.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always knew I wanted to help people in the social media platform but it took some time and trial and error before realizing what exactly it was that I was called to do. When I had my baby, Luke, last October, I knew that staying at home with him, I would need an outlet that let me create and also help others as I have a strong passion for that. I just started getting on Instagram and put myself out there on stories and in my posts. I quickly realized that my focus would be on “mom life” and health. The mom’s life part was obviously natural because I was a new mom going through all of it for the first time and being able to be there for other moms in similar stages of life was a true blessing. I then also have celiac disease and I avoid corn and dairy as well so I was sharing a lot of different recipes that I would make and people were loving them so I have been continuing that as well!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth road… I would say it for sure has its ups and downs. It’s wonderful in so many ways but there will, of course, be times where you feel a creative stump and don’t feel like you have anything to say and then, there are the comparison battles of how everyone else could be growing faster than you. I struggled for a little bit with the comparison and at times still fall into it but I have to remind myself that I need to be happy for my friends and others who are getting further and that I will grow and continue at the rate that I am meant to! I also would encourage others to just be yourself. Being authentic creates a much more positive following then only having people that follow you because you seem to have it all together all the time.
Please tell us about Countless Curls.
I specialize in feeding babies/toddlers, celiac disease, eating dairy & corn-free, and having healthy easy recipes.
I think what sets me apart from others is the authenticity that I put out there. I really try and be relatable and not only showing the good and the beautiful staged images.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
To be honest, I don’t have much time to be used to reading books and listening to podcast! I do love to connect with other bloggers and encourage each other!
