Life and Work with Molyna Soukhoumrath

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molyna Soukhoumrath.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Molyna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in the financial industry. I was in the industry for quite some time. After being with Chase for over 12 years; it was time for a change. The company had lay offs after lay offs. Waking up for work every morning was starting to get a bit frustrating because you didn’t know if you were up next. Sure enough, I got hit. The universe worked its way out. I didn’t get upset. I actually took it as a blessing; appreciated the time they gave me. A couple of years before the laid off I got into the beauty industry. I started doing eyebrow microbalding (semi tattooed brows). And here was my opportunity to add another service and fully get into the beauty industry; the lash industry. I did just that. And I love it!

I was on the fence about returning back into the corporate world because fear had kicked in. So I told myself that I would do whatever it took not to go back. Believe me it wasn’t easy. But I trusted myself and the process. So I decided that I would brand myself and do what I started to love.  I met a wonderful man during my transition who pushes me and continues to do so today. After a year and a half of working from home an opportunity was presented.  He convinced me to take an opportunity of a life time. I then pushed FEARED aside and now we’re proud owner of MJ’s Beauty Lounge in Arlington, TX.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely wasn’t a smooth road. And I don’t believe it will get easier.

At times it was hard to believe my work was even good enough to withstand other artist. But I realized it’s a process that can not be rushed. This is a beautiful industry and I’m blessed to connect with so many talented artists. My advice to young women is to be fearless, block the noise around you, follow your heart, choose your happiness.  Life is way to short to allow other’s opinions stop you from making your dreams come true. Create your beautiful authentic life & live it to the fullest!

Starting your own business will really open your eyes to a lot of things and people. Some people are for you and some aren’t and that’s okay. Someone is always praying for your downfall, but you keep rocking! Only you can determine your success.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with MJ’s Beauty Lounge & Creator of Badass And FabuLash – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a licensed lash artist (3x certified by some of the best lash artists) and certified eyebrow microblading. The excitement I receive from making women smile after they see their beauty come into light with just a little enchantment is so rewarding. We’re already beautiful creatures in this world, a little enchantment won’t hurt🙂. I am very proud of myself to finally creating a life for myself as an entrepreneur. Proud of being a strong positive role model for my daughters. Allowing them to see that nothing in life is easy. Life will get hard and challenging at times but it’s something that anyone of us  can overcome.

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
My advice is to get out of your comfort zone! Meet new people! Seek & explore new opportunities! Surround yourself with positive people and people who loves to see you grow.

Network, network, network! Put yourself out there! Promote!

I am blessed to say that my mentor is my better half, Jay Warren. I’m constantly gaining knowledge from this man on a daily. He’s an amazing partner, best friend, mentor that anyone can ask for. I do give this man a lot credit and he truly deserves it. Not because he’s my better half but with his help and his guidance a lot wouldn’t have been possible. Don’t get me wrong; anything is possible! But it’s nothing like conquering the world with your best friend. He has positively impacted so many people along with myself and my daughters. Little does he know; he’s an inspiration. And we all just truly love and appreciate him.
