Life and Work with Naomi Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Davis.

Naomi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The beginning of last year, I was at a standstill in my life, and I was sick of not living the life that I truly wanted to live. I had dreams of more acting opportunities, but I was also burnt out on going to college with a bunch of student loans building, so I decided to pursue real estate, which is something I have always been interested in. I would do this and continue acting and hopefully, in the future, I can continue college debt free. It was a long process and I was faced with many challenges at times, but I pulled through. I did what I had to do and put myself in the right mindset. I ended up passing the state and national real estate exams with flying colors the first time and signed with my dream company. Now, I am ready to jumpstart my career and do other things that I enjoy doing. It has always been my dream to run a business and give myself the freedom to also focus on my love of acting.

Now, I feel like I have so many goals I want to accomplish and I am proud of myself for allowing myself to take on all the opportunities thrown in my direction.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had a few challenges, and I feel like most of them were fixed with changing my mindset and keeping the faith in those situations. A few years ago, I was 18 and it was my first time truly living on my own in Hollywood and I made a lot of my first mistakes. I was attending my dream performing arts college and just happy to have freedom, so I had a hard time balancing the strict curriculum while also trying to have a great time and overcome peer pressure. I ended up dropping out and it left me devastated, and the people that I called my friends turned on me and said I would never make it in this industry. I kept my head held high and when I came back home to Texas I continued working towards my dreams every day. I signed up for every audition I could find, and there were lots of rejections of course and I also had some talent agents tell me that I was young and naive and that I would have trouble making it. I, of course, never listened and to what they had to say, and I discovered my love for doing extra work, because even if I didn’t have a role I just enjoyed being on an actual movie or television set. I actually gained most of the experience that I have now when it comes to my acting career and my professional career from being on those sets. All of this led to me doing short films and projects that have opened my eyes to a whole world of creative individuals. I came out of my shell and gained confidence and I also learned set lingo and met so many wonderful people that have helped me with my career and gave me so much advice. Also, another plus to all this is the fact that I was able to attend college online while striving towards my dreams. I have learned over the years that without my many mistakes, I would not be the strong, independent woman I am today that does not let anything hold me back from following my dreams.

My advice for other women is to never let anyone tell you that you can not do something. If you want something, then go for it and it is never too late to strive for your dreams. Turn the spark inside of you into a flame, then go out and spread like a wildfire.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Real Estate Professional for Century 21 Judge Fite, The Official Real Estate Company of the Dallas Cowboys. I specialize in helping buyers and sellers either find their dream homes or help them get their house sold efficiently. What sets me apart from others is that I enjoy helping people and I do everything I can to get things accomplished. I try to put myself in my client’s shoes so I can truly understand situations from their perspective. I am also receiving the best training, so I am always learning and growing and gaining even more experience.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
For real estate, I haven’t experienced any barriers, and actually, I have seen a lot of women in powerful positions. Everywhere I turn, there is someone I can look up to for guidance. I love being around so many individuals willing to help me reach my goals. Women empowering other women is my favorite thing no matter is it is real estate, or acting, or just life, in general. My advice for anyone coming across any type of barrier is to just have faith and stay positive. I have also learned that anytime I feel like something isn’t going right, then something greater always comes along, or I end up learning valuable life lessons.
