Life and Work with Prophetess Barbara Calloway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prophetess Barbara Calloway.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
First, thank you for having me on Voyage Dallas. I am a licensed third-generation minister and have been in full-time ministry for 11 years. Prior to full-time ministry I worked for Bank of America in the mortgage industry. I’m a mother of 2 adult children Destinee and Jadell and “Nana” to my handsome grandson Dallas.

All of my life, I grew up in church. My father the Late Supt. Edward Calloway was Pastor of Lighthouse COGIC and my mother the late Missionary Jacquelyn Calloway was right by his side. As a PK (Preachers Kid) we were trained early to work in the church, I’ve done it some of everything – played drums, cleaned restrooms and directed the choir which helped me to understand at a young age the importance God had in our lives. At the age of 15, I preached my first sermon and knew then God had a special plan for my life, after nearly 30 years of active ministry, I feel like I’m just scratching the surface of a new season and I’m loving every minute of it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, as with anything there are challenges and sacrifices and I believe even more so with ministry because there’s also spiritual warfare. I’ve experienced divorce, being a single parent and even health challenges. At the end of 2016, doctors discovered a huge abdominal mass that they thought was cancer. After two major surgeries and a few minor ones, I preached for a year and 6 months with a colostomy bag and stint in my right kidney, thankfully it was not cancer and I made a full recovery by the healing power of God.

However it was during divorce, single-parenting and sickness that my prayer life and trust in God deepened. I wouldn’t trade my tests and trials for anything in the world because it has produced a powerful testimony to the Glory of God!

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Yes, there were many childhood experiences that laid the foundation for my God given success. First, I had a wonderful mother and father that loved my siblings and I immensely and taught us the value of family. They weren’t only great Pastors & leaders, they were great parents. My mom passed away in 1989 when I was only 15 years old, but her bigger than life personality and love for all people showed me what real love was all about. My father passed away in 2000 selflessly giving his all to God and ministry, which taught me how to give God my all no matter what it cost. Many wouldn’t know it but I’m an introvert, however my upbringings gave me the heart capacity to go beyond the comfort zone of my tribe and genuinely love community.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Barbara Calloway Ministries – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a Prophetess, Preacher, Prayer Warrior and Leader. One of my greatest mandates is to compell intercessors of all generations and cultures to arise and rebuild the altar. I am also a passionate preacher that points people back to the God of the Bible. I grateful that for the last 11 years, we have gathered nearly 80,000 intercessors on The Spiritual Awakening Prayer Call every Tuesday & Friday morning at 5AM. We have also held several large prayer initiatives locally and nationally as well as successful women’s conferences. I am the author of Dear Female Preacher – 21 Things Every Female Preacher Should Know which empowers women on how to do ministry and life effectively.

I can’t tell you what sets me apart from others as I try not to make comparisons, I just believe as long as I let my light shine in the earth, people will see my good works and glorify the father which is in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
