Trish, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
One day after the passing of my father I woke up feeling like “this can’t be my life”! I was working in corporate finance and loved working with people but didn’t love the politics of it or my impact as a person working in that field. I wanted more for myself and future family. So I decided to pick up a side hustle as a wedding officiant! Oh my goodness, I fell in love and not just with the extra cash but with all of the couples and their love stories! It was overwhelming in the best way! Most couples that I serviced (I started out doing elopements only) had no clue when it came to planning they had so many questions for me that I couldn’t answer because all I knew was how to marry them and all the logistics of being their officiant. It was somewhere around my 10th couple when I decided to seek help outside of google and learn more about planning. I wanted to save my couples time, money, and stress! I became a certified wedding planner in 2017! It’s been the most rewarding choice I have ever made. I have brides I still chat with and I have enjoyed helping each and every couple!
Has it been a smooth road?
Whew, well owning a business is tough everything from how to set it up and what to expect in relation to expences! It’s tough in general which is why you have to LOVE IT! I was a mess in the beginning I struggled to find a sweet spot with pricing. During my first wedding, I worked 13 hours and charge well below the industry rate. I would suggest all women get a business consultant, mentor, or coach! My mentor saved me from drowning!

I offer full services for wedding planning, virtual planning, destination weddings, and act as a consultant for events. I also offer wedding, event, & digital design services to couples locally and remotely to help them cut down on expenses (think seating charts, stationery design, and wedding monograms). I love helping happy couples get married stress-free and fabulously! My specialty is working with overwhelmed brides and helping them have a stress free wedding process. I ensure their wedding is on schedule, perfectly designed & super fun! It’s my mission to make sure all feel supported so ALL couples regardless of faith, race, religion, non-religious status, background, gender, sexual orientation, beliefs, or lifestyle can secure services with me.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Get HELP!!!!! Don’t try to do it alone. You were not meant to take on such a huge undertaking without help! Your business will be successful if you have a team no matter how small. Create an outline of the task that you can easily outsource and do it. Maybe find an intern or if you can afford it an online business manager! Whatever you do don’t attempt to take on all the burden alone.
