Life and Work with Whitney Eaddy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Eaddy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Whitney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
With over 15 years of natural hair care experience since my first very own “BIG CHOP”, I have been hailed as the “Growth Guru!” Her Growing Hands Salon is the ultimate healthy, natural hair care destination. I have been known nationally for my “Growing Hands”. I have trained a team of Natural Hair Care and Growth Specialists to replicate my self-taught skills to grow long, healthy, and natural hair for the masses. I have the desire to help every woman embrace their natural beauty and I aspire to inspire by empowering women’s natural hair journey through education.

Although natural hair is a natural gift for me, it didn’t become a full-time career until a major shift in the beauty industry for the natural hair movement. I felt it was my responsibility to help nourish, moisturize, and aid in the healthy hair growth of my clients. After 2 years of research, I formulated Her Growing Hands Hair Growth Elixir to add to my client’s healthy hair journey. Additionally, I created a natural textured wig line called Natural U for proper protective styling for my clients to maximize their hair growth, which also allows them to mimic their natural hair textures. This has inspired me to create a full product line (in research and development stages) that will cater to all women. My ultimate goal is to open a natural hair care school that will expand to different markets, educate others on my techniques, and teach my methodologies worldwide.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When learning anything new, the road is not always smooth. There are always going to twist and turns along the way, but after time, you learn from your mistakes. This goes for your hair journey as well. What I have learned is that most women don’t listen to their hair. Your hair journey is an educational experience. This is where “The Growth Guru” steps in. I am able to analyze your hair from root to tip while creating a personalized plan, educating you on the state of your hair, and suggesting the necessary products. I share my techniques to help my clients achieve their healthy hair goals. I remove the trial and error and provide a smooth transition into your healthy hair journey. My advice for those starting out on their new hair journey is to learn about your hair, find a protective style that will maximize your growth, and come visit my salon. My team and I are able to help you realize you hair goal dreams.

Please tell us about The Growth Guru, Her Growing Hands, Natural U, Full product line in research and development phase.
All of our clients are known to reach great lengths of healthy, natural hair. This is due in large part to my perfected “Silk Press” technique on natural hair while maintaining the integrity of our client’s natural curls. In recent years, I have been known for being “booked to capacity” consistently with a wait list exceeding 2,000 members over the span of nearly 2 years! I was personally caring for several hundred clients and decided to open a salon and train specialists to share my techniques to the masses. I possess a pure passion for healthy, hair care, and growth. I am honored to say that I have helped several hundred women along with their healthy hair journeys.

My team and I plan to take the natural hair care industry by storm with my avant-garde hair philosophies and techniques for healthy natural hair. I believe it’s my PURPOSE to ultimately spread my knowledge, expertise, and experience to the natural hair community.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
When starting any career, it can be a fearful path ahead. The key is to have a plan and execute. This will give you structure, discipline, and a goal to strive toward, but never forget your dream. Never stop learning. Strive to learn all about your craft. This gives you an opportunity to be well educated and grow. Be strategic, specialize in a particular niche, and master it. Network. Don’t be afraid to speak to people you do not know. It’s all about who you know so communicate, make connections, and learn from others. Start with where you are and with what you have naturally. Don’t feel like you have to have all your ducks in a row to get started. Be direct and clear about your vision and don’t waiver in your standards.
