Today we’d like to introduce you to Adaornn
Hi Adaornn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born with lymphedema, and my story is centered around awareness, self-love, and body positivity. My journey to where I am now started due to people asking me how I lived a “normal” life. I knew nothing different, so my lymphedema is my “normal”. As I walked through this life and learned more about others it motivated me to share my story to inspire not only people like me but others who have critical illnesses.
Lymphedema by definition is a condition characterized by swelling that occurs when there is an accumulation of protein-rich fluid in the body’s tissues, primarily due to a malfunction in the lymphatic system. It most commonly affects the arms or legs but can also occur in other areas. There is no cure and can happen at different stages in life.
In my case, I am able to function with the assistance of mobility equipment as needed. I stay active and have a balance diet which helps my condition. My life is full of fun, laughter, and helping others to not become discouraged. I am an actor, social media influencer, event planner, and have degrees in accounting and businesses.
I authentically share my story in hopes of someone not giving up on theirs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, and I overcame a fair share of obstacles. Those obstacles include bullying, negative comments, and not being viewed as a “worthy” member of society. It is easier now to turn a negative into a positive because this has been my life. I will not let anyone take my life from me by making me feel that I do not belong. God has kept me covered and no one take me from me. We cannot control what someone says or feels but we have the choice of controlling our responses and actions toward them.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor, content creator, entertainer, accountant, business owner, and entrepreneur. I am known for my content creation, and business savviness. I am most proud of my presidential award received in my early educational years. This award was for receiving the highest testing scores in the school district.
