Life & Work with Adriana Rosso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Rosso.

Hi Adriana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I found myself through music since I have use of memory. Being such a highly energetic, passionate, bold, strong, independent, intense, free-spirited woman, I always felt the need to express my energy, personality essence and artistic creativity through music, therefore, I started training my vocal and performing arts skills since I was 7 years old. I built a career in Latin America in classical music and musical theater.

Intense training took me to diverse performing arts competitions in USA, which led me to make the tough decision to leave my family, friends and country in 2010 and start a continue my artistic development in America. I moved to the DFW area and attended TCU in Fort Worth. I knew from the beginning that starting from scratch in a new country would be a challenge: not only due to the transition and culture clash, but also finding yourself as an individual, young adult, and facing uncertainty as a foreigner and starting artist in a highly competitive industry. I was lucky to land a job in Radio post graduation and made my way into the music industry.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. Back then, the music industry was only relevant and existent in the US, so migrating and finding better opportunities for a career in that industry was the obvious option. However, it was a bumpy road.

– Finding yourself as an individual: The typical struggles of a young adult finding her way in life, fighting for her dreams, working hard for a career in a highly competitive industry.

– Uncertainty as an immigrant: Take a 20 year old out of her country, her family, her comfort zone and on top of it all tell her: you have 4 years to figure out how to find a job that sponsors you so you can develop a career in this country, on top of it all, you have to balance a career in corporate America and your passion for music and figure out a way to merge them both.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer and songwriter who is working on a cross-over international, musical career, bringing Latin Hip Hop to the US music market. As an artist and individual, I was able to bring all my life and musical experiences into a fusion of rhythms and concepts. I am an artist who is mixing not only genres but also solidifying an artistic concept that stands for personal empowerment, especially female empowerment.

Musically: Being originally an opera singer and a musical theater actress, but later spending over 10 years being exposed to the US musical influences, such as Trap and Hip Hop, I was able to create an original, genuine and revolutionary sound to both markets.

Living in the US and being influenced by their forward thinking society, I learned so much about female role models in different industries and was so influenced by their power and self confidence that I wanted to become an ambassador of this movement.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
