Hi Adrienne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Two years ago, on my 24th birthday, I opened up The Bush Waxing Boutique!
Let me paint a picture for you… It’s May of 2020, I was living in Fort Collins, CO & my waxing studio, Waxi Taxi & Company, was shut down after only being in business for 3 months, big bummer, I know! My sister & brother-in-law, who live in DFW, planted a bug in my ear that my business would do well in Fort Worth! I told them that they were crazy, I would never move to Texas…
Obviously, I was wrong. About a week after they suggested I move, I was calling their realtor & writing The Bush business plan. That lockdown completely altered my life, & wow, I am so grateful for that!
In August 2020 I visited Texas for the first time with the thought, “If I can make it through a 2-week visit to Texas in August, I could make this work!” Little did I know I would fall in love with Near Southside, Fort Worth & after that visit, I knew that Fort Worth was exactly where my business belonged.
Fast forward to June 18th, 2021, after over a year of prep, tears, & prayers, The Bush Waxing Boutique was finally born!
The inspiration for The Bush came from my past work experiences where clients and employees weren’t treated with the respect that they deserved. My mission with The Bush is to change the waxing, and even the beauty industry, for the better. At The Bush, we focus on community involvement, client relationships, sustainability, self-love, and self-care. My goal with this business is to make everyone, no matter if you’re a client, a team member, or our UPS delivery driver, feel so beautiful, so confident, and so inspired to take on your day/week/month/life!
We are still in the start-up phase & any new business owner will tell you the first few years are full of growing pains, especially right after a global pandemic! The past two years have been a wild ride, but through it all, there has been one constant factor keeping me going… our clients!
I am so unbelievably grateful for our wonderful clientele.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a roller coaster! I am so grateful for the incredible growth my business has seen since opening its doors just two years ago. I have gone from just myself in the waxing room to now I have 2 wonderful, full-time team members. Building a business isn’t easy, but there have been 3 things that have helped me through it all.
1. My amazing team. I have a vision for the future of the beauty industry. My team members see it as clearly as I do & I am so grateful to have them by my side. Their ideas, positive attitude, and ambition help make the hard days worth it!
2. Our clients have been so wonderful & supportive; they have helped make my dreams of creating a new kind of waxing studio my reality!
3. The wonderful community I was lucky enough to land in. The Near Southside community in Fort Worth has been so welcoming. I feel so grateful to be part of such an inclusive & supportive community.

Success means that no matter what you decide to do in life, you try your hardest, do your best, and above all else, treat others with respect while doing it. If you can lay your head on the pillow each night and be proud of your efforts toward achieving your goal, you’re successful.
