Life & Work with Alejandra Smith of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Smith.

Hi Alejandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing hair back in 2020. In 2018, I was tired of working dead end jobs that lead nowhere. I always wanted to pursue hair when I was younger and didn’t. It was a hard road, working 8-4 and going to school from 4-10 for almost 2 years straight. Looking back, I don’t regret any bit of it. I started off being a mobile stylist and now I have my own suite in the university park area in Dallas Tx.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The struggles I feel i had were some that many come across. Figuring out what my “niche” was. I wanted to do any and everything! I was eager to learn I was hungry. I’m still very much that person now but with more knowledge.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist that started off specializing in color correcting. When I started initially doing hair, I had no clue what color correcting was. But I loved the hustle, I loved the transformations. I work with 90-95% Latina/ethnic clientele. Taking someone from naturally dark/borderline jet black hair to blonde, is something that is not accomplished by many, and that has taken me many many years to learn and master and still continuing to master. I’m proud that I’ve gotten this far, and have finally went full time and left corporate life.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very shy person. I’m a cancer. I’ll tell you what I want you to know but nothing more nothing less. I’m a first generation American, my family immigrated to this country with the idea of giving us a better life. I’m very proud of where I come from and never forget my roots.
