Life & Work with Amanda White of West Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda White.

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all began with the matriarch of my family. She empty-nested after homeschooling all of her children and didn’t know what to do with herself, so she went and got her brows done in hopes of boosting her self-esteem. She later realized that it was such a new technique, and she thought she could do better, so she did.

Two years after she opened DFW Microblading my sister and I took a course and joined by her side. I was in California, so I opened up a salon there and my sister had one in Dallas. 2020 came and went so we downsized to one salon in Fort Worth. After a couple years my mom wanted to chase another passion, so I bought her out to take over in hopes of growing the business.

The past two years has taught me a lot, and to be honest I’m ready to chill for a bit and reap the harvest, but we aren’t there yet, and that is okay. This has been quite the journey, and I feel like we are just beginning. My sister and I get to work together and create a beautiful environment for our clients. I’m excited for the future of DFW Microblading.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not. When I opened my business in California, that was all smooth sailing. But as time went on and the market became more saturated, (and lets not forget 2020), things took a drastic turn.

I bought the business from my mom in 2023 and it has been quite the off roading experience. The biggest struggle I have had is finding the right marketing company. I went into 20k of debt because of one marketing company and am still recovering.

It’s hard to carry the burden of success alone. My sister is passionate about brows and esthetics, not the business aspect. So it gets lonely at times trying to figure out how to be successful. Sometimes I do need to have a partner to slap my hand and tell me NO.

Typically, if the business profits I put that money right back into the business in hopes of bringing more business in and it doesn’t always go that way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am so proud of how far I have come in my skill set. For the first 7 years of my career everything came easy and I didn’t take courses to continue my education and skill set. At a certain point you start to fall behind innovation and have to catch up. So I started taking different courses to learn new techniques and styles. I think every artist should invest in at least one course a year.

I love doing Nano brows because not. many people do it, and it is the best technique for all skin types. I never thought I would be able to learn Nano brows. That’s what I told. myself. Looking. back I wish I could tell my younger self to just try. Relentless effort in one direction WILL pay off.

I met a woman through one of my marketing companies that was new to the industry, and she has taken 20+ courses. She inspired me to begin my learning journey and to never stop practicing my craft.

I believe what sets us apart is that we are geared towards women 40+ and up. More mature skin takes a more skilled artist and we want to protect our clients from botched brows. Your face deserves better.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’m thankful for the opportunity we have to give women a great experience, whether its permanent makeup or facials, we are here to make you feel like the best version of yourself.
