Life & Work with Amya Hudson of Coppell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amya Hudson.

Hi Amya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Amya Hudson — a creator, mother, music engineer, and the founder of The Creators Vault. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then spent years living in South Carolina before making my way to Texas. Every place I’ve lived has shaped me and given me a deeper understanding of community, creativity, and purpose.

One of my biggest inspirations came from being part of a collective called CAMP, which stands for Come And Make Peace, founded by Chef! (Curtis Bryant). CAMP was more than a creative group — it was a movement. We hosted shows, created platforms for artists, and built a culture of connection all throughout South Carolina. Being surrounded by creatives who poured into each other and uplifted one another showed me the power of collaboration. It’s where I learned what it means to build something with soul.

That experience sparked the vision for The Creators Vault — a multidisciplinary space that empowers artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs. I wanted to create a place where people could come not just to create, but to connect, grow, and thrive. A space that holds everything — from music recording and mixing to pop-up events, merch sales, and collaborative sessions. A vault for creativity in every form.

My journey into music started as therapy. Writing lyrics gave me an outlet when I didn’t have the words. As a mother, music became even more meaningful. It reminded me that I can nurture my child and still nurture my dreams. That’s why I enrolled at MediaTech Institute — to sharpen my craft, expand my technical skills, and take my artistry to the next level. After graduation, my goal is to bring The Creators Vault to life fully and help others do the same with their vision.

Balancing motherhood, school, and entrepreneurship has had its tough moments, but I move with purpose. Everything I do — whether it’s engineering vocals, writing songs, or just being present with my son — is rooted in love and intention.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from this journey, it’s that community creates impact. You don’t have to do it alone. And sometimes, the greatest art is born when you come and make peace with who you are and where you’ve been.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not — it’s been far from smooth, but every bump in the road has taught me something valuable. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance everything. Being a full-time mom while chasing my creative dreams and building a business from scratch isn’t easy. There have been times where I felt overwhelmed, burnt out, or questioned if I was doing enough in any area of my life — especially as a young mom trying to navigate school, entrepreneurship, and personal growth all at once.

Another struggle has been fighting self-doubt. When you’re doing something unconventional or building your own path, it’s easy to feel like you don’t have it all figured out — and truthfully, I didn’t. But I learned to trust my vision even when things didn’t make sense to anyone else.

Finances, time, support — there were seasons where I didn’t have much of any of it. But I stayed committed. I leaned on faith, community, and my “why.” I remind myself every day that I’m not just building this for me — I’m building it for my son, for the creatives who feel overlooked, and for the little girl version of me who just wanted to be seen and heard.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a multidisciplinary creative — I specialize in music production, songwriting, mixing and mastering, and creative direction. I’m also the founder of The Creators Vault, a concept studio and community space designed to empower artists and entrepreneurs to bring their visions to life. Whether it’s recording a song, designing a visual, or curating an event, everything I do is rooted in storytelling and creating with purpose.

I’m known for blending emotional depth with technical skill — especially when it comes to music. People come to me not just for clean mixes or catchy lyrics, but for the vibe, the intention, and the experience. I pour myself into every project I touch, and I think that heart is what people connect to.

What I’m most proud of is doing all of this while raising my son. Every step I take, every milestone I hit — it means more because I know he’s watching. I’m also proud of the community I’ve helped build — from my time with CAMP in South Carolina to the early stages of The Creators Vault, I’ve always had a passion for bringing people together.

What sets me apart is that I move with soul. I don’t just create to keep up — I create to connect. My work is personal, intentional, and rooted in real life. I understand the struggle, I know the grind, and I want my art and my business to be proof that you can build something beautiful even when life is messy.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe risk is a necessary part of growth. Every time I’ve stepped outside of my comfort zone — even when I was unsure — something in me expanded. I don’t think you can really chase a dream or build something meaningful without taking risks.

One of the biggest risks I took was deciding to go all in on my creative path. I left behind the idea of playing it safe, working a traditional 9–5, and instead chose to bet on myself — as an artist, as a businesswoman, and as a mother who wanted more for herself and her child. Starting The Creators Vault while being a full-time mom and student wasn’t easy. There were no guarantees, just a vision and a whole lot of faith.

Even going to school at MediaTech Institute was a risk — financially, emotionally, and time-wise. But I knew I needed the tools to take my craft seriously, and I couldn’t wait for the “perfect” time. I’ve learned that fear will always be present, but courage is deciding to move forward anyway.

To me, risk isn’t about being reckless — it’s about alignment. If it scares me and excites me at the same time, I know I’m stepping into something that can change my life.
