Life & Work with Ashleigh Hasselbusch of Burleson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Hasselbusch.

Hi Ashleigh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I recently decided to start my own company on the side (for now!) as a way to channel my true passion: bringing interior spaces to life. I’ve loved interiors for as long as I can remember. I studied design in college and worked in the field for over three years after graduating. Even after shifting careers, I realized just how much I missed the creative process, and that’s what inspired me to turn my knowledge and love for design into a side hustle.

There’s something incredibly special about reviving older homes and giving them the charm and character they deserve. I believe interior design should reflect the homeowner; in a world filled with predictable cookie-cutter new builds, each space should feel unique to the person living in it. That individuality is what makes design so interesting, no two projects are ever the same, each one offering its own personality, challenges, and opportunities for creativity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I won’t sugarcoat it, this hasn’t been easy. I’m still learning how to consistently attract new clients, and building a brand from the ground up is no small task. I have so much admiration for those who have successfully done so. The marketing side truly feels like a job in itself, but once I connect with clients, the design process has been smooth sailing.

It’s a genuine honor to work on every project I’ve been trusted with. I’m still growing my client base, but I’m committed, I’m learning, and I’m moving forward with purpose every step of the way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in transforming homes into spaces that feel deeply personal, intentional, and full of character. My passion is reviving homes and bringing out the charm that’s already there; sometimes it’s hidden, sometimes it’s forgotten, but it’s always waiting to shine through again. I believe every home should reflect the people who live in it, not a trend or a template, but something aimed to be timeless. That’s why my work is never “one size fits all.” Each project is tailored, thoughtful, and designed to tell an individual story.

What sets me apart is my ability to see potential where others don’t. I don’t just decorate, I reimagine a space. I look beyond the obvious and focus on the subtle layers that make a space feel warm, collected, and truly lived in. From the trim style to the hardware, no detail is overlooked. Clients come to me when they want something unique, something that feels authentic and intentionally crafted just for them, and that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

My proudest moments are when clients look around and say their home finally feels like a true reflection of who they are. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone fall back in love with their space. My work is driven by creativity and a belief that great design doesn’t just look beautiful, it feels like home.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, my grandfather, “Didi”, found a secondhand dollhouse that quickly became my entire world. My dad helped me build additions onto it and even install tiny hardwood floors. I would spend hours crafting furniture out of clay or hunting for miniature pieces I could obsessively rearrange. The house itself was blue, and I remember cutting individual “stones” from gray and pink construction paper to make the exterior come to life.

I lost count of how many times I painted those little rooms or stripped off the wallpaper just to try something new. That dollhouse was my first design project, long before I even realized what interior design was. Out of everything from my childhood, every toy, every stuffed animal, it’s the one thing I insisted on keeping. Looking back, it was the truest sign of where my passion was headed.
