Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Perez.
Asia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I created Asia Madison Designs – an Instagram-based shop that focuses on customized items, in March 2020, right before the pandemic. It has grown into something better than I could’ve ever imagined. In a little over a year, I have established a loyal clientele that trust me with their vision and that is the greatest honor. With my love for customized items as a consumer, I knew that I would be passionate about this. I grew up in Union City, New Jersey, which is where I fostered my work ethic and “headstrongness”. I attribute everything I am to my loved ones and my upbringing. But I have so many special people in Texas that have inspired me to be better both personally and professionally. It wasn’t until my move to Texas that I established my love for entrepreneurship and began to really understand the passion I had for it. I have been so lucky to work with many amazing vendors in the industry that have set the bar high for business ownership.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a 17-year-old high school student and running a business has not been easy, there are weeks where school takes up most of my day and I can’t create or post content as much as I would like to. My education and grades have always been on the forefront of my priorities, so learning to balance the two as well as my personal life has been one of the biggest struggles that I’ve faced while running AMD. I’m not the “cookie-cutter” type of business owner in many ways, and I share posts that may create uncomfortable conversations. I knew that when I started this business, I didn’t want to become robotic and stay silent to please people. I have a very loud and clear stance on social issues and that can be taboo for business owners, but it is one of the things I am most proud of.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Customized products are dominating the industry right now because everyone wants something that’s made just for them. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t only specialize in one item, but instead I specialize in all areas. From dog bandanas to business tees to all things wedding, customers have unlimited options with their orders and I think that’s what makes Asia Madison Designs so special. I have had the honor of customizing swaddles that are the first thing a newborn baby is wrapped in, or signage that is first piece of decor to go up in a new home, or even something as small as an ornament that brings joy around the holidays. When making something custom, it’s not only about the item but the memory it creates and that means so much to me.
