Life & Work with Autumn Nelson of Weatherford, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Nelson.

Hi Autumn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for movement began at an early age when I earned my Black Belt in Karate and competed as the star pitcher in Fast Pitch Softball. Into adulthood I realized my love for movement extended into the desire to help others. While I was pregnant with my first child, I developed pre eclampsia which caused me to gain 80lbs. After delivery, I was the heaviest I had ever been and I experienced first hand what it felt like to not be comfortable in my own skin. This ignited a fire inside that made it my mission to help others – to feel better, to have bodies that work, to enjoy life. It took me some time to figure out how I wanted to deliver this. Once I stepped foot in a gym myself I knew this is where I was called to help. Over the past 13+ years I’ve earned several certifications including NASM Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, NASM Nutrition Specialist, NASM Women’s Specialist, NASM Youth Exercise Specialist, ACE Orthopedic Specialist, SCW Mat Work, and more. I began my journey teaching group classes back in Oregon which branched out into one-on-one sessions. After several years, I ended up moving to Texas. I developed such a strong relationship with my clients that many of them followed me across the country virtually. That’s when I launched “Just Move Fitness” and offered Group and One on One sessions virtually (4+ years ago now). In addition to this I began offering semi private Mat Pilates here in Weatherford, TX where I rent out a small Dojo to host sessions at. My focus is on women’s health throughout all stages in life. I’m thankful for where I am in this season of my career and feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to help others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With every success there are always challenges. Starting up Mat Pilates was a rocky start but after much advertising, word of mouth, class schedule alterations, lighting changes, etc my classes are now generally booked and I even added a class to the regular schedule! Online group fitness has had its challenges since it’s difficult to get people to just TRY it. I offer the first class for free so women have the opportunity to see what it’s all about, no strings attached.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Independent Contractor. I offer Personal Training at a local gym, as well as run my own DBA on the side. My DBA is “Just Move Fitness.” With my DBA I offer virtual group and one on one Personal Training, as well as Mat Pilates semi private sessions in Weatherford, TX

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Weatherford and the people! It was a fantastic change for our family. We moved here almost 5 years ago. My least favorite thing is traffic
