Hi Azia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello All, I am Chef Azia Jacobs owner and executive head chef of Iconic Dome Events & Catering LLC. Established in 2025 of January. I am born and raised near Dallas, and have a passion for creating delicious food!
Growing up my parents didn’t teach me to take risk in life. It was always make sure you have a job aka a regular 9-5, because that was more realistic than chasing your dreams. Working in insurance since the age of 17 was something I knew I didn’t want to retire doing. I’ve tried multiple things like nursing, fashion design, cosmology, project management, but nothing compared to how I felt about cooking.
One day I decided to put my two weeks in because I wasn’t happy. Although the job paid me well I went home with headaches from starring at a screen all day. The job was highly demanding and negatively impacted my health. Although the free team lunches were appreciated, the workload and lifestyle that came with the role caused me to gain a significant amount of weight.
I had a plan to enroll into the top culinary school in the nation and become a private chef. I did just that and launched Iconic Dome Events & Catering LLC with only money for startups. With faith and knowing my business would flourish. I am now the top private chef in my area and graduated from Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.
My cooking skills are in plant based and home style culture cuisine. We cater all over the Dallas metroplex and working on expanding our events side of the business this year. I am so excited that I decided to take a risk on something I am so passionate about. Being able to make my own hours and create something my clients will brag about for months means so much to me. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Luckily I was blessed to have clientele every month for a whole entire year after quitting my day job. Challenges faced were finding startup equipment as food appliances and table decor can be expensive. As mentioned I only had enough money for startups. I like to consider myself the DIY Queen so my creative thinking cap was definitely on at all times.
Nonetheless, every event was and is always put together effortlessly. As time went on and clientele began to pick up funds increased and I was able to purchase more luxury items to go with my brand’s theme.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a private chef and caterer that specializes in plant-based and home style culture cuisine. We also create amazing and delicious custom cakes/cupcakes. One of the most favorite things I am proud of is my eye for design and passion for making food taste great. I guess that’s two things.
There are a lot of chefs in my area that also caterer. However, what sets Iconic Dome apart from others is that we’re not only chefs we are event planners. Everything we do we create with a purpose to catch the eyes of our clients. When you see our work the first thing I guarantee you would do is gasp and take your phone out to capture memories before everyone starts digging into the presentation. We simply make unforgettable memories!
What matters most to you?
I want to make sure that I stay happy and peaceful with the work I do. That I don’t get burnt out and that my clients experience top luxury tasting food that will leave them wanting more until they try the whole entire menu. Also, I find it very important to give back to my community whether it’s feeding the homeless or partnering with different Non-profits to give back as well. I feel that everyone deserves to try luxury dining at least once in their lifetime and why not experience that from Iconic Dome Events & Catering LLC!
