Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatriz Martinez
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My career as a permanent make up artist began in 2022, after leaving my corporate job I knew I needed a creative outlet.
I have always loved the beauty industry, when I was 15 years old I began to explore makeup and even started a YouTube channel. The creativity and passion that comes out of making other people feel beautiful is really what motivates me.
Although I spent four years to obtain my Bachelor Degree in Media Communications, I felt as if I wasn’t fully able to express myself there. There was always something missing and didn’t allow me to trily be fulfilled. Taking a leap from a secure career path to something that would be based on clients and good or bad seasons was uneasy. I came to the conclusion that if I didn’t take the chance, give myself the opportunity to actually do something that made me happy rather than something that drained me physically and mentally, then I would always regret it. I took some time from leaving my corporate job to spend time with my daughter.
I then began to research ways and ideas that would allow me to make money but also enjoy my job. I came across videos on Tik Tok of Ombré Powder Eyebrows, my first thought was “how cool that you can tattoo makeup. I invested some money, took a few classes and got certified.
That is how InkQxxn was born! The name was easy to decided because I was always called “Queen B” and Ink is what I work with!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To be completely honest, no. I was a bit nervous to invest money on a few courses to get certified when I was not even sure if I would be good. Practicing would also make me nervous and I wanted to give up. The thought of working with blood and peoples skin alright a more permanent level was scary. It was no longer just blush, lipstick, and lashes anymore. It was needles, numbing cream, and blood.
With a lot of prayer and a few talks with God, I felt that I was not able to do it without Him. I began to trust Him with this and if this was not in His plan for me then I was going to be ok.
I took some time off until God answered my prayers. I was not going to move forward until he approved of it. So then late 2024, he answered! He gave me the green light!
The more I practiced, the more confident I became and I just got confident with what I did. None of my work and success would be possible without the hand and blessing of God!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a cosmetic permanent makeup artist, I specialize in Lip Blushing and Powder Brows. This is a semi permanent tattoo on the epidermis layer of the skin.
I believe what sets me apart from others would be that besides making people feel beautiful I also try to meet people and create intentional lasting relationships. One of my main goals is to Glorify God through my process and spread His word if it’s possible!
