Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda And Calvin Allen.
Hi Brenda and Calvin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Bussiness was started in 1975 we just celebrated our 50 years in bussiness last year started out in small building in Stephenville Texas making handmade saddles and tack then in 1991 we got married and Brenda started adding a full line of western wear and hats in 1995 we opened our store in Hudson oaks where it is still located there today where we still build saddles tack chaps belts and do repairs in our shop that is at back of store we raise cutting horses and show for our hobbies Brenda bred her horses she shows going back to her own daughter of freckles playboy
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been what we love to do but it’s cost a lot to be in bussiness as the work we do is very time consuming and we are competing with foreign labor we are lucky that most of our customers know the quality of better than you can get anywhere else and are loyal we are a very small shop with a few dedicated employees our daughter Ashlee runs the store as Brenda does all road show all around the country doing the major cutting horse shows
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Quality and knowledge of knowing what it takes for showing a cutting horse and they want good quality saddles and tack and we are known world wide for this we have people visit our store from Italy France Germany Venezuela Australia and probably left some out it’s kinda funny but people in our area come in and say oh we didn’t even know you were here
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Going on vacations to war between the states battlefields. I love history
