Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Solis
Hi Brenda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Brenda Solis, I’m an artist living and exploring the Dallas-Fort Worth area originally from Mexico. I have always been a creative person, using watercolor as my main medium of self-expression. I also have a passion for photography which comes from my dad, he was a photographer in Mexico and gave me my first camera when I was a teen, and it became one of my favorite hobbies. I’m a wife and mother of three, and I also use photography to capture our lives and special moments. I started my Instagram journey in 2013. And quickly became an outlet for self-expression through photos and video. I started posting about our family lives from outings, events, and special moments and slowly built an audience. At first, it was a way to keep being creative and I love creating reels. Having the opportunity to be an influencer did not come fast or easy. I’m still learning and growing through the different ways to use social media as an art medium.
I have been a painter for many years, and love creating art. I attended Mountain View College for Fine Arts and had my first solo art show, as well as several musicals. I have also taught adult painting classes at the Dallas Public Library. My creative art journey has been a long one, I also love acting, singing, and dancing, I was part of Cara Mía Theatre Co. and performed at the Latino Cultural Center. I was a fitness dance instructor for a couple of years as well.
My husband and I both share the same passions, such as photography. He has been so supportive throughout my art journey. He helps me behind and in front of the camera. Which has made creating social media content possible. .We enjoy creating content together and capturing our family lives. We have a great teamwork going, along with our kids, It has brough us closer as a family and also a great way to capture memories.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a social media content creator takes a lot of planning, and consistency. From shooting, editing, planning, and posting consistently every day. And as a mother of two sons and one daugther it takes a lot of time management. I love learning and keeping myself creativly challenge. I had to learn how to work different programs to edit our reels, as well as taking a photography class to learn how to take better photos.
Working with different brands and collaborations has been a dream come true for me, but it didn’t come fast or easy. It was years of creating content on social media consistenly. And slowly finding my niche and style. What helped me was all the acting experience which translates into being in front of the camera. As well as the support of my family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Mexican-American artist who loves watercolor painting, visual arts, and photography. I fell in love with painting at a very young age, and quickly built a passion for art and the fine arts in general. In Mexico I had a magical childhood, with numerous monarch butterflies passing through their journey every year. With lemon, orange and avocado trees in the backyard. At seven years old I remember painting on walls with picked purple flower petals. As a child I enjoyed long walks through fields and I picked flowers to draw from, I still do.When I was a teen I fell in love with acting, singing, and dancing. I loved doing plays, being part of dance companies, and performing. In college, I had to wonderful opportunity to perform at the Latino Cultural. And was performing as much as I could. In my early twenties started to focus more on my art and finding my style. And exploring different mediums, paints. shapes and how color can ralate to each other. I wanted to paint strong women, with emotion in their eyes. women’s strength, beauty and struggle. I prefered to paint with watercolor, and acrylic on wood. Using the Wood as part of my canvas to create fantasy worlds to tell a story. I find inspiration in nature, life, culture, and botanicals, which heavily inspired my style. My main subject matter is the female portrait, florals, and symbolism.
My artwork was what started my Instagram journey, at the beginning I was sharing my artwork. After some time It started to share our family life, and events around our area. I fell in love with the creative process of creating digitial content. And my art changed into video and photography. And along with my husband started exploring Texas to document and share new places, adventures, art museums and nature. We soon started taking weekend trips or road trips to nearby towns and sharing our travel adventures on Instagram. I was able to combine my love for art with the digital content to create unique reels. Combining my passion for art, acting, photography and visual arts is what sets me apart on social media. We have also venture our to Oklahome, Santa Fe, and Mexico for fun travel adventures. We have also been part of the Dallas Dia de los Muertos parade, and try to keep our culture alive.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I enjoy painting at home, where I have my art studio, and I plan to continue showing my artwork more locally. I never stop painting, learning, and creating. I plan to keep working with wonderful brands and making new collaborations. I enjoy featuring fun and exciting events, places, and adventures on social media. I hope that sharing our family adventures, and travels inspires people to visit places they haven’t considered before. AndI hope to continue growing my following on social media which I’m so thankful for.
