Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Wasson.
Hi Brett, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started out during the height of the pandemic back in 2020 when Polo had a couple unused demos ready to go and when tasked to find a singer, he and our drummer Foch found me. We then added drew into the mix and finished up a handful of songs and started releasing them. ‘Let Go’ was the first track we released.
Since then, we have put out another track titled ‘bluff’ and are in the process of preparing another single for release titled ‘heartbreak’.
We just played our 4th live performance at So What?!? music festival over Memorial Day weekend.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being in a band is never a smooth road! If it is in the slightest bit too easy, it never lasts!
We’ve had our fair share of struggles like every band; one that affects us is most definitely having time to get in together to write and record
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I (Brett) have been a musician and songwriter for almost a decade now, beginning to learn how to produce and record fresh out of high school. During that decade I went to school to work in education and have been an in-school suspension teacher for the last 5 years at a high school where I live in Texas. I produce and song write for and with other artists and I’ve been singing in a band for the first with this project future you.
I’m very excited about the songs I’ve been writing with future you, and what we have planned for the future, we are so new and only have 2 song currently released with a new one on the way. So, everything is just getting started.
This band is really good at being collaborative when it comes to finishing songs, and it’s fun. We all just love being able to perform and play songs we wrote.
What are your plans for the future?
We are writing a lot of music, we have 20 plus demos, and we plan to just put music out song at a time for the moment to build up our identity as a band and just give the art time to be distinguished and conceptualized. We really want to make sure we present our songs the best way we can, like a finished painting.
We plan to steadily release singles through this year
