Today we’d like to introduce you to Cai Chen.
Hi Cai, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey that has lead me to be the photographer I am today was more untraditional compared to most. I never intended to pursue anything in the creative field, but It started back in 2015 when someone stole my tablet. All my photos I’ve taken on my trip were gone. I was devastated to say the least, but at the same time I was optimistic and now looking back, it was a blessing in disguise as it made me buy my first DSLR camera.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth is not a word I would use to describe my path to becoming a full time photographer. Besides learning the art of photography, the other side of it, business and marketing, was much more daunting in comparison.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Although I do shoot pretty much all genres of photography, from products, real estate, portraits, events, and weddings, I am most known for my underwater photos. Nothing makes me smile and more proud than when someone acknowledges my photos as “art”. Currently, I taking my talents to the world of sports photography.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Having fun and enjoying the moment is the most important thing.
