Life & Work with CAROL PEVEY of Other

Today we’d like to introduce you to CAROL PEVEY.

Hi CAROL, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I first started in the floral industry, I mainly designed for family and friends—handling weddings, parties, and showers. My passion for the industry truly grew while working for a wonderful floral company in Lubbock, where I fell deeper in love with everything floristry has to offer. I also inherit my artistic eye from my mother, who always had a great sense for design.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I began working full-time in the floral industry right as COVID-19 hit. Like so many others, we simply powered through the challenges of that time. Looking back, I am deeply grateful for the lessons learned—they made me stronger, more resilient, and ultimately better equipped to navigate today’s floral market.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I truly believe that florists are artists in their own right. Success in this field requires constant inventiveness to ensure that every event or wedding remains unique and distinct from past work. A key part of the process is listening closely to the client to deliver on their vision while still being trusted as a professional artist to bring a creative spin to the final design.

In addition to our floral services, another unique offering that sets us apart is our mini donkey rental service. We provide mini donkeys to serve drinks at weddings and special events. Our clients and their guests absolutely love having them present, and they always bring a lot of joy to the occasions. We are the only service in the Lubbock and surrounding areas.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
In my experience, the main key to success in the floral industry is always putting your clients first. Success comes down to listening closely to their needs and wants, maintaining honesty, working hard, and consistently going the extra mile. For instance, when a client desires something specific that doesn’t fit their budget, I often find small ways to include those extra touches to make their experience truly special.
