Today we’d like to introduce you to Chadney Christle.
Hi Chadney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began singing in church when I was five years old. I began playing the piano when I was ten years old, and I performed my first solo at the Free Church of God in Christ in Dallas, Texas. My godmother, a local organist at the time, encouraged me as I played by ear. After graduating from David W. Carter High School, I started studying jazz at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas, albeit I initially learned it by ear. I’ve played music and led worship at a number of DFW churches. I’ve also had the honor of working and performing on stage with incredible artists like Kirk Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Myron Butler, Kim Burrell, Chrisette Michelle, Tamela Mann, Dave Hollister, Fred Hammond, and Erica Campbell, to name a few. At the moment, I’m a Berklee School of Music (Boston, MA) online student earning a bachelor’s degree in music composition for film, television, and games.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been an easy route, despite the fact that I genuinely adore what I do, simply because being a female musician, producer, and artist is considered dominant. Being an independent artist who manages to pay the bills while returning to school full-time as an adult is also advantageous. Regarding artists and musicians, the pandemic caused a lot of disruptions. As I adjust to the “new norm,” I’m still attempting to figure out how to stay relevant and change with the culture.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a musician, singer, composer, producer, and engineer. I’m an expert at remixing and reintroducing tunes. I have two singles and one EP out since 2012. Some of my proudest moments and accomplishments include singing with Jennifer Hudson in a song inspired by “The Jeffersons” on “Live In Front of Studio Audience” on The Kimmel Lear show, appearing as a performer at SXSW, TD Jakes Megafest, Maverick City Tour Kirk Franklin tribute, and the “MLK concert” at the Myerson Symphony Center. I approach self-accompaniment differently than other people because I let my voice follow each chord progression, match the melody I sing, and correspond with what I play. Few producers are able to do everything. As an illustration, I can engineer, produce, sing, play five instruments, and write.
What’s next?
My goal is to create a solid reputation for myself as a reputable director and composer of TV, film, and video game music. Aside from owning my own performing arts school, I also dream of owning a recording studio.
