Life & Work with Courtney Dozier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Dozier.

Hi Courtney, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always had a love for photography since I was young. Playing around with the camera, taking pictures of my friends and objects was always my thing. In 2018 my husband bought me a camera for my birthday. By 2019 my uncle, a videographer noticed I had an eye for photography and suggested I take it more seriously. Shortly after that my family came together and bought me a computer to take my editing to the next level and the rest is history. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would have to say learning new techniques and being patient with my growth process has been difficult that’s why my key phrase for 2022 is “trust the process.” God knows what He’s doing even when I don’t. Another challenge is mastering the business aspect. It can be daunting but with time, the right tools, and even the right people it’s all coming together.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer that specializes in various genres, from boudoir and headshots to product and family shoots. If I’m known for anything, it is the smooth experience my clients’ have when we work together. I make shoots painless, quick, and my clients leave more confident than when they arrived. I am passionate about helping guide those that feel unsure or uncomfortable about how they should pose, and at that moment, I am your biggest fan. As far as what I am most proud of, in a content-driven world where people are competing with filters, likes, and follows, I highlight the natural beauty and help my clients feel confident in their own skin.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck really doesn’t have much to do with it if you ask me. I don’t really like the word luck. I am a huge believer in everything happens for a reason and God is in complete control of my life and business. I believe faith without works dead so I work hard, show up ready to go and I watch God open and close doors. What is meant for me is for me and what is not meant for me, it’s not going to happen and I’m definitely ok with that. Being in the right place at the right time is not coincidence its God and I trust that His timing is perfect.
