Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Manning.
Crystal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began at six years old when my mother placed me in a play portraying Tina Turner, and soon after into modeling because of my height. By the time I reached high school, I was determined to follow in the athletic footsteps of my brothers. I initially tried out for the basketball team, but the coach encouraged me to consider track and once I did, I made varsity immediately. After transferring schools, I earned another varsity spot, began training twice a day, and rose to become one of the top three athletes in the nation in every event I competed in, ultimately receiving scholarship offers from more than 55 universities around the world.
I committed to the University of Kansas, where I became a four-time All-American, a three-time Big 12 Champion, and a proud Hall of Fame inductee. Today, I am honored to be recognized as the most decorated athlete in the history of the University of Kansas male or female. As well as being an Olympic athlete, In addition to my athletic achievements, I am the co-owner of In the Spirit Entertainment alongside Dr. Antoinette Titus, who serves as President. Together, we oversee a record label with exceptional artists and produce impactful films, television projects, and community events. Now I am an award-winning filmmaker, writer and director.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
there have been challenges but my faith in God has helped with accepting Gods peace about things.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What set us apart from any other entertainment company is that we are like a big family and we really push for community and to give back to the community and show love to them.
What does success mean to you?
I believe success is reaching your goals that you set out forth for yourself but also not hurting anyone else to get to the success that you want.
