Life & Work with Dan Vissari of Arlington TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Vissari

Dan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA. where I began my journey as a creative during my high school years. It was early on that I knew being a creative was something I wanted to make my life’s journey. After completing high school I continued my education at a few area colleges, ultimately earning my bachelors degree from Edinboro University. I began working odd jobs to pay the bills, and staying creative with a majority the rest of the time. In the spring after graduation, I was able to land my first graphic design job preparing layouts and logos for a combination sign making, apparel print and embroidery shop, working with a long time family friend. This came to a halt in 2020 with the pandemic. I moved away from Pittsburgh to live with some friends in Cleveland OH, and once restrictions were lifted, I was able to find work at another screen printing and embroidery shop. Things with work were very different for me at this time. I had gained all this knowledge on design and print, and was starting to fall out of love with what I was doing. After hitting the job trail again, I found an opportunity to work with a creative studio in a rural town in Texas working in marketing and digital media. This opportunity catapulted me. I began to love what I was doing again. Unfortunately the company went under, but I was not about to give up on my passion after traveling half way across the country. After being laid off, my wife and I moved to Arlington when I got the idea to open my on creative business and work for myself. I wasn’t exactly sure if I was ready though so I began looking for jobs in the area where I landed job in another sign making shop. Working in this sign making shop made me feel as if I were moving backwards, and it began to rob me of the joy I had found. After saving up some money, I decided to leave and begin on my own. I am now looking to build my client portfolio, and continue my dream of running my own creative business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There are always going to be bumps along the way, but life is about how we overcome those obstacles. I had to overcome a few personal health concerns, and working on taking care of the things most important to me in my life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full stack, or multi disciplined designer. I can can do a little bit of everything when I comes to digital creations I can create logos, branding, page layouts, business cards, websites, apparel design, custom illustrations, and animations. However; I specialize in branding, and social media assets. Right now many of my clients are Rugby clubs, and non-profit organizations. I am most proud of my ability to be a one stop shop for a brand or organizations needs. Although it is just me, there is a lot I can accomplish for my clients through my skills. Something I feel that makes me unique is my eye for design and personality. There is only one me.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes. I have learned it is very important to take care of your own health, both physical and mental. Also, life is too short to not be doing something you love.
