Today we’d like to introduce you to Deepa Kannan.
Hi Deepa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
NEW MOM TO PAGEANT WINNER
I am a person who is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and this is my vision. Being a new mom and an HR professional, I recently participated in a Pageant competition “Mrs. South Asia World 2022” crowned by Bollywood Actress Preity Zinta and organized by MyDreamTV Entertainment. To participate in such a high-profile event and back home with 3 titles and a crown is unimaginable. I won the title and crown for “Mrs. South Asia World 2022” First runner up and I also earned the title “Mrs. South Asia World 2022 Radiant beauty” and also the proud winner of “Mrs. South Asia World Talented 2022”.
To stand on a stage and walk on a ramp 6+mo post-partum is more than dream come true moment for me. All I did was I loved my body, my confidence and my determination towards the goal got me this. My goal was to prove that we as women are capable of achieving anything and everything and we are capable of that. New moms undergo a lot of stressful, overwhelming situations that can lead to postpartum depression. I was able to identify that my mental health needed a break and also want to take this to a bigger picture so that it reaches a lot of women. I wanted to prove to the world that we can overcome any situation if we have the will and confidence to do so and here I am.
I’m just a representation of fellow new moms. I dedicate this crown to all the women out there. Mental health is as important as physical health. Do what makes you happy, keep yourself active, and never let go of your dream and the confidence that you have in yourself. Self-love is the most powerful. Be you, Be confident! You’re the queen of your life. The world is waiting for you 🙂

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a person, I believe that it is important to struggle, and only then can we value our achievements. With that said, when a women take up something and want to achieve her dream it’s never a cakewalk. I’m no exception and with a newborn, a full-time job, managing the house, and to get out of the house in search of my dream was not easy. Being in a postpartum phase with a lot of weight gain my body wasn’t in the right shape. But beauty pageants are not just about your body, it’s all about your attitude, your personality, and the confidence you have in yourself, it’s about being able to inspire and influence other people with your journey. First thing is to believe that you can do it. When you believe, you have already crossed 50% of the path to success. And of course, nothing without the support of my family. My family has been my backbone throughout this journey. Without them I’m nothing and this wouldn’t have happened. The society will judge no matter what you do, if we start looking back, we are just losing our focus. Never be afraid to take big steps, who knows that could even change your life. My only focus was the win and all the positive vibes along with my confidence, belief and trust got me the win. Be confident but never be overconfident 🙂
My heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Rashmi Bedi (CEO) for her support and guidance throughout the journey and My dream Tv Entertainment for a well-organized successful event.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an HR professional and currently work for a private organization. I always make time to balance my personal life and professional life. I love to multitask and always love to explore new things and break the cliche and make the best out of it.
Motto for life: “Until you spread your wings, you’ll have no idea how far you can fly” – Napoleon
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What you think about yourself is what that all matters. As far as you know what you do is right and if you’re confident about it, and you’re sure that you will not hurt anyone in the process then that’s about it.
