Today we’d like to introduce you to DeRonica Riggs-Lamb.

Hi DeRonica, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I worked in corporate America as a Project Manager and Environmental professional for more than 20 years (often overlooked for promotion) and was simply just tired of jumping through hoops and the politics. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to go into business for myself. At the end of 2019, the evening of New Year’s Eve to be exact, I prayed that my department would offer a severance package so that I could “retire” early (and what I mean by “retire” is that I was under the retirement age.). Well in a little over a month, my prayers were answered and I walked away from a large corporation after 21 years of employment.

Prior to leaving corporate America, I sought out several business ventures but only one stuck! I started brainstorming, planning, and researching different markets and was led to health and wellness Thus giving birth to Blitz Organics Co. LLC. I chose the name Blitz because our goal is to offer products that help to attack the many “health enemies” that we face daily. As our tagline states “Fighting For Your Health From The Inside and Out!”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Unfortunately, it was not a smooth road. I left corporate America towards the beginning of the pandemic. I LITERALLY STEPPED OUT ON FAITH DURING A TIME MOST WOULDN’T EVEN IMAGINE QUITTING!

Finding supplies posed a major issue. Not to mention ducking and dodging COVID! Resources were limited and shipping was even worse. Everyone had the same idea to become entrepreneurs right when COVID hit and started to peak. So, I guess we were all scrounging for the same materials (LOL)! HOWEVER, I would offer a product extremely unique in a market that’s not overly saturated!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In an effort to boost my immune system, I personally started consuming Chondrus Crispus (better known as sea moss)… Sea moss is a species of red algae which grows abundantly along the rocky parts of the Atlantic coast of Europe and North America and has many health benefits! I get my sea moss from the beautiful St. Lucia.

Sea moss, after making it into a gel, can taste a bit like the sea. So, I, being an innovator, created a product that would not only be beneficial health-wise but also extremely delicious and palatable.

I worked countless hours in what I deemed as “The Mad Lab” working to improve the taste of my invention without compromising the many benefits sea moss has to offer.

I created a proprietary blend of organic apples and sea moss thus giving birth to APPLEMAUCE®. I am most proud of this creation because it is the first of its kind on the market. I believed in this product so much so that I took the time and money to even protect the name and filed for a trademark! The name has officially been registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office!

I have always been an innovator. A person looking for ways to improve and streamline processes. As a project manager, that’s just what I did while in corporate America. So, whatever I learned behind someone else’s desk was a skill easily transferable! It’s sort of second nature. I’ve also always had an entrepreneurial spirit and believed that someday I would be a business owner building MY OWN BRAND…I think I’ve found my niche!

What does success mean to you?
I do not measure success by someone else’s standards. I deem my success based on where I came from to where I am now! If you base your success off of what someone else says it should be, you will always feel unsuccessful.

Success is succeeding in what you said you would do. Don’t ever let anyone rate your level of success. Only you know what it took to get to where you are or came from!
