Life & Work with Devonte Doss of Longview

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devonte Doss.

Hi Devonte, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t find photography—it found me through my aunt. I still remember the day she placed my first camera in my hands; it wasn’t anything fancy, but it changed everything for me. She didn’t teach me with rules or settings—she taught me how to see. Things like the way light hits just right or how a simple moment can hold so much emotion. What started as just taking pictures quickly turned into capturing stories, and I began to realize how much I loved freezing real, meaningful moments in time. Looking back, I know she didn’t just give me a camera—she showed me my first love, and every photo I take today still carries a piece of that moment with her.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Photography hasn’t always been easy for me—there were moments where the pressure, self-doubt, and creative burnout made me fall out of love with it, and I ended up putting my camera down for a few years. But in that time, I found myself again, and when I picked it back up, it wasn’t about perfection or expectations anymore—it was about the passion that started it all. Sometimes stepping away is exactly what you need to remember why you fell in love in the first place.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer and creative who specializes in capturing genuine, meaningful moments for individuals, couples, and families. Through my brand, I focus on storytelling—turning everyday interactions, milestones, and emotions into lasting memories. What I’m most proud of is my ability to make people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, allowing their true selves to show. My journey hasn’t been perfect; I’ve experienced creative burnout and even stepped away from photography for a time, but that break helped me rediscover my passion and purpose. What sets me apart is not just my eye for detail, but my heart behind the lens—I don’t just take photos, I create an experience that people can feel and remember long after the moment has passed.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
