Today we’d like to introduce you to Donna Dow.
Hi Donna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My degrees are in business and accounting. After 7 1/2 years in public accounting in which I was able to learn from the best and experience a wide variety of business models, I had the opportunity to experience Downtown Revitalization. I spent 13 1/2 years as the Durant Main Street Program Manager before coming to Denison, Texas as the Main Street Director. Twelve years later, Denison is a Great American Main Street Award SemiFinalist due to the efforts of an engaged stakeholder base. Denison has a beautiful downtown with terrific businesses and fun events.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The economic downtown in 2008 and the pandemic have been two hurdles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One of my favorite things about my job is getting to produce a free outdoor summertime concert series. We have been able to grow the series and bring in artists that wouldn’t otherwise be able to play locally, especially for free. Recently, Denison became a Texas Music Friendly City. Currently, we are in our Sesquicentennial Year, and I hope to capture some of our history as it relates to music.
What do you think about luck?
Success has often occurred at the intersection of Preparation and Luck! However, if you look deeper, you would find that a deep faith and reliance on God have proven to provide the patience and perseverance necessary to guide success.
