Hi Elvira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been passionate about skincare, partly because I’ve dealt with rosacea. When I finally decided to address my broken capillaries. Through my cosmetologist, I learned about methods, ingredients, and techniques that could help calm my rosacea — and that opened an entirely new world for me.
As you continue on a skincare journey, you naturally start noticing other concerns too: fine lines, pigmentation, pore size… but instead of seeing it as frustration, I saw it as a fascinating process. At some point, that curiosity shifted into a real drive to understand skin at a deeper level. I wanted to study it.
Learning what different ingredients and chemical compounds actually do is incredibly empowering compared to relying on generic “anti-aging” labels. Understanding the science behind the skin is what ultimately led me to where I am today.
Along the way, I also became frustrated as a client with how Hydrafacial treatments were being offered in the neighborhood. After trying several places, I often left disappointed — the treatment felt too short, steps were skipped, or the quality varied dramatically. And when someone did perform it well, it came with an extremely high price tag. Hydrafacial is a patented system with a standard protocol, but it requires real dedication, consistency, and mastery to deliver correctly. I realized there was a big gap between how it should be performed and what clients were actually receiving.
That’s why I decided Beyond Facials would commit to doing Hydrafacial the right way — every single time. We started offering it in March, and because our clients trust us and keep coming back, Beyond Facials is on track to reach the White Star tier in 2026, which means we’ve performed a significant number of Hydrafacials with consistently high standards.
This experience reinforced my mission: combining science, technique, and genuine care to deliver treatments that are effective, thoughtful, and truly worth it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Opening a skincare studio in a highly competitive area like Santa Monica is challenging, but I knew I could make a difference. Beyond Facials was created to fill the gap between traditional facial spas and full medspa services. On one side, you have injections, lasers, fillers, and microneedling with downtime; on the other, you have casual holistic facials that feel nice but don’t deliver true skin-transformation results. I wanted to offer something in between — effective, science-driven treatments that are still gentle and suitable for sensitive skin.
Finding this balance takes time. I’d say the biggest challenge has been defining and refining our niche, making our services increasingly precise and tailored to specific skin goals. We experiment with formulations, techniques, and protocols to maximize the value of every treatment. For example, when we offer a chemical peel, we don’t just apply it — we prep the skin thoroughly, layer the peel strategically, and then “seal” it with powerful ingredients like PDRN or EGF boosters to elevate the results.
It’s a learning curve, but a rewarding one, and each challenge has helped shape Beyond Facials into what it’s becoming today.
