Hi Epiphany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This journey has been long but fun and interesting, nonetheless. It was 2012, and I was still trying to figure out ” what I wanted to be when I grew up.” I would do hair for my family & friends, but never took it seriously. I was in the middle of attempting college (again) and was heartbroken that I couldn’t attend my university of choice, so I decided to enroll in Cosmetology school. It was there that I cultivated my passion for knowledge of hair care, maintenance, and barbering.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? Is that even a thing? Definitely not smooth, but I have had my sweet spots. I learned to enjoy every moment at the time it’s happening, find the lesson, and most of all, DON’T PANIC. From losing money to unethical employers/salon owners, second-guessing my purpose, or even unruly customers who pull up on you in the parking lot, ready to fight…I’ve seen a few things in my 10+ years! But I’m grateful I never gave up on myself, and God kept me along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner/operator of Loc’d n Faded in Arlington, TX. I’m a one-stop shop specializing in starter locs, loc maintenance/repair, extension installs, and barbering services all in one location. Need a retwist, loc care/repair? I got you. No locs, but want a taper? No problem. Want to revive that undercut after a fresh loc service? Remain seated and look no further. As your stylist, my job is to educate and execute. Hair knowledge and care is my passion, and I am always eager to share what I know in order for my clients to have a happy & healthy hair journey.
