Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriella Silvani.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I knew since I was in high school I always wanted to work in beauty, I loved makeup because of the confidence it gave me and I wanted to help others with theirs, so I originallyp entered the esthetics program to do makeup but actually fell in love with waxing. I knew I found my passion and immediately applied to a corporate waxing company right out of school and I waxed for a chain for almost 5 years before realizing I wanted to be more than a number that was always considered replaceable, I decided to open my own business 2 years ago and haven’t looked back since, I love my space and the people I’ve met doing my own thing, I am able to choose which services to offer as well so I’m not limited to waxing and have branched out into brow services and lash extensions as well
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, I was super lost before I decided to go to school. Stuck between if I wanted to save and go to school or just fly by comfortably at my food service and front desk jobs, but one day I decided I really wanted to do what I was passionate about. So I worked 3 jobs for 6 months and saved the money to go to school full time so I could finish in 6 months. I still worked 2 jobs while in school and then fell into a comfortable uncomfort at the chain I worked at. I was miserable for the last 3 years constantly wondering if there was more out there for me than the space I was limited to. When I left I lost 90% of my clients so I basically started over, but in the almost 2 years of business now I’ve gained so many wonderful clients that make what I do worth every second I struggled
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in body waxing, it’s what I’ve done for almost 7 years now and I’ve become really good at it. I have adhd so I feel like waxing is perfect for my on the move brain, most of my clients have mentioned to me they actually love how quickly I’m able to get them in and out, honestly I never realized I was moving quickly It’s just the pace I normally move around at. I love using that time to get to know them and really give them a safe space to unload. My main goal for my entire business is to be a safe space for people to come treat themselves to some self care and decompress from their day to day lives, and leave feeling beautiful and confident
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love DFW, I’m born and raised in this city and I love the comfort of knowing most of my neighbors and the sense of pride you feel being from here. It’s such a good mix of city and small town energy, plus the food here is YUMMY.
I will say the thing I like least about it, is what most everyone dislikes about it, that traffic! We continue to grow everyday and with growth, more and more traffic!
