Life & Work with Guadalupe Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Guadalupe Gomez.

Hi Guadalupe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Alright, let’s go way back because I feel like this would be a good inspirational story. After graduating high school in 2016 I went to community college, studied BioChem, wasn’t for me, and never returned. I didn’t know what career I wanted to pursue so I just worked. At the gym, then a bank, a call center, was an Assistant Store Manager for a loan company and was not passionate nor happy at any of those though I am thankful to have learned many skills from each one. I enjoyed and loved being an Admin for a Real Estate group until they sadly had to lay me off. Fast forward to 2019 when my fiancé and I were in the process to purchase a home. When looking at model homes I fell involve with how the homes were decorated to the max. I was like, “Omg what is this?!”. I didn’t know there was such thing as Home Staging! Like, this is what I want to do! I researched how to get started, got certified, searched for jobs, began to work as a Home Stager plus Social Media Coordinator. Then a couple years passed, and I was like, “Ok I need to do more with my creativity and expand into Interior Design.” When searching, I came across a lot of applications that required you to have a Bachelor’s in Interior Design though I remember when interning with D Magazine. I networked with an architect, and he stated, “You don’t need a degree. As long as you have the creativity, it can take you a long way!” and here I am… now an Interior Design Assistant and I couldn’t be more happier and grateful.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth; a lot of the challenges were more on a personal level though I made sure to push through. I knew what I wanted and allowed myself to feel uncomfortable in order to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
C&I Studio is my creative outlet; I create to be able to inspire others. Whether it’s inspiration within or to create something themselves like art, videos, graphics and give them ideas when it comes to home styling/decor. I specialize in home styling, home organization, Canva design, and content creation.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Learned to take care of myself, prioritize my mental health, value life, and that community as well as technology is essential.
