Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella ‘IZZY’ Maso.
Hi Isabella ‘IZZY’, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello there,
I’m Isabella Maso—though if you’ve caught a live show or heard my music around Dallas-Fort Worth, you might know me as IZZY. For the past 15 years, DFW has been both my creative and professional home. On stage and in the studio with my longtime collaborator, Emma Goodenough (who mixes and masters all my records), I’ve spent time writing, performing, and releasing music that aims to connect with people.
Off stage, as Isabella, my career has taken a diverse path: from sales and marketing at a construction refurbishment company, to the business development world of fine wine and spirits. My journey as IZZY has taught me the power of emotion and storytelling, while my professional experience as Isabella has given me the skills to build and scale a business.
And none of that mattered when I started feeling short of breath.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In February of 2024, I was advised to go to the emergency room for a potential blood clot in my chest. It scared me, left me feeling helpless.
Had I done what I wanted to? This question kept rolling around in my mind.
The answer was no. And when the tests came back clear, I was relieved, but also steeped in resolve to change my life.
It took me almost exactly one year to garner the courage to leave the career I’d spent nearly a decade building.
In February 2025, I launched MSBDS.
MSBDS, or Maso Specialized Business Development Services, is a company dedicated to telling the stories for an elite network of brands, as well as being a resource to you, the consumer with services such as: custom wine cellar consultations, corporate gifting, and more with those elite brand partners.
As part of MSBDS’s brand-building, we take it a step further in telling brand stories by curating exclusive experiences in people’s homes, and at their country clubs. A brand house that hosts exceptionally creative, and unique events.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Right now MSBDS has a pretty neat portfolio of brands that we are working with; Mukilteo Coffee Roasters, Fumar Cigars, Cushendale Woolen Mill, Ballykeefe Distillery to name a few! All elite, quality brands that MSBDS is working on various projects with & for – going a step further to tell their brand stories. We are also knee deep in planning custom events for the brands above with customers in their homes, and with their golf clubs – shoutout to some of our legendary country club pals – BIGHORN Golf Club in Palm Springs, Useless Bay Golf Club in Washington, and Denton Country Club here in TX.
As for what sets me apart; I think anyone is capable of great things. I think attitude is really important. I try to approach any work I do, creative or for my business, with a good mindset. Not exceedingly optimistic or anything, just knowing that when things do get hard, it’s really important to have good self-talk, and tools to cope with stress.
10 years ago, I would not have answered this question this same way, and I think the reason is my therapy journey.
I am 30 now, and started going to therapy when I was 19. I am really proud of the work I have done on my communication skills. It is one of the key elements in making me a better, more empathetic human being, allowing me to flourish in other areas.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I am really passionate about people, storytelling, & connection. And I am really stubborn, so when all else fails in terms of skill/talent/progress, I still try to show up. When not working on MSBDS related things, I still write music most days, and play shows out and about!
I have a song coming out June 24th, 2025 called Always Been There. That one is a collaboration with an author named M.B. Thurman, for her book Summoned.
I am also excited to finally be able to talk about/share my album Tides & Telephone Lines, coming out this year.
